Don't go knocking the West-end

On my first visit to the island, I noticed one thing. No matter what your age, sex, ethnic origin, you will be accepted in Ibiza. No matter what you do, nobody looks down their nose at you, as long as you don't cause trouble, you will be treated with a bit of respect, and rightly so. This is what makes Ibiza one of the most magical places in the world.

If its like that on a place where we all love to visit, then why has that not rubbed off on this forum? We all love the way of life in Ibiza, so lets live our lives like that! So somebody wants to get off their face, wear a hat almost off their head an dtuck their tracksuit bottoms in their socks, so what! They might not like listening to the wonderful sound of Tiesto dropping in a new hit. Each to their own, you don't like the West End, fair enough I respect that, but there is absolutly no need to shoot somebody down for their love of it. It's all about taste at the end of the day, and tastes change. I went to Ibiza for the drunkeness I must admit, but fell inlove with the beauty and calmness of the place and its this that I am going back for this year!

Peace, Love and Respect! If everybody lived like that the world would be a better place!

it's a photo courtesy of el diario.

it illustrates an article in which the traders near to this particular bar lament their closeness to it. they say that the clients of this bar cause them untold problems with blatant drug taking, noise during the night as bottle parties take place there, traffic problems, and finally they are losing customers becasue no normal people want to be anywhere near this vicinity.

to balance things there was, in the same issue, a photo of some westenders who were visitied by one of the government security bosses because of similar problems to above. he also visited sa penya.

it isn't that bad.

I have to say i have just come back from the great island and every night we went to the West End. And every night we had a cracking time, it was the perfect pre club starting point. Don't get me wrong there are a couple of mugs that act like tw@s but other than that everyone if friendly and having a good time.

A very taboo topic on this forum indeed! Personally it depends on the company you are with I think. Last year I went with some mates who enjoy going out for some cheap drinks, having a dance at cheesy music and generally dont let things worry them too much as long as they have fun and avoid trouble. Some good nights were had, and I have to admit I enjoyed it too. This year was a little different as I was with people who I knew weren't keen, but my "come on, how bad can it be?" attitude was soon flattened with some unconcious dude being carried away in an ambulance and a lot of english, football-shirt-clad, lobster red english "lads" shouting and chanting down the street! I have to be honest, I was quite glad to exit the area that night!

I know its like a night out in a british city centre, but there ARE some good nights to be had, there ARE some nice people to be met and you can have a good time on the right night. If you try it and don't like it then the advice is simple... don't go back!

Well im gonna give it a go....mainly as i havent really been round san an properly before. im pretty much up for anything as its all part of the experience.....plus id love to wind up a few scallies. i can safely say tho most evenings will be spent on the sunset strip...without a doubt.

Bora Bora Disco Annoys Neighbours.
The famous day time Bora Bora disco on the Playa den Bossa news was reported by the Diario de Ibiza newspaper to be annoying the neighbours & businesses in it's vicinity. The neighbours are apparently claiming that Bora Bora does not control it's clients as they come & go from the disco, especially when it closes at midnight, & they are fed up with the antisocial behaviour & bad image these clubbers give the area. Parking & traffic in the area is also seemingly chaotic also apparently due to lack of control by the police & the disco which seemingly does not control where their clients, which can number several thousand, park. The neighbours claim they have suffered enough over the years because of Bora Bora & now want the authorities to take some firm action to make the disco respect the rights of the neighbours in the area.

I'll say it again... PLASTIK PLASTIK PLASTIK!!! Best bar on the island, period. Great crowd (no beer boys), great music and hot workers :D

OK, I'm sick of this bashing the clapping at sunset in San An thing. So what if the meaning of it has changed over the years. I like the damn clapping and find it charming.

I see it like this: we've all just seen a thing of beauty that only a god could produce. We are all happy the DJ put on just the right tune to accompany that thing of beauty. And with the sun down, the night has begun, and the night means time to get ready to hit the clubs. All reasons to celebrate, in my humble but correct opinion.

It's a beautiful thing and if you don't like it then find some isolated place to watch the sunset and wallow in the silence!

That said, I do not wave at the planes at Bora Bora :)

Amen! I'm not slagging off the English because i'm half English myself but the English mentality stinks sometimes. Have some culture people, also your not in England, the Spanish and Italians clap the sunset, it's their country...not yours...so respect it!

Before you slag me off about Ibiza not being an italian country... i know this!

Just the Latino attitude is more open to things like clapping the sunset.

The West End...

I've had some mint times DJing in Play2 in 2001 and also recently at Plastik, but when you live there I can see why it gets slated, the English in general have a bad name amongst the locals due mainly to the clientelle that drink there. So when you live and work there, most people who are NOT west end workers or Club Reps detest the area, due to the bad reputation a British worker has to put up with.

This year I was on hols, had 2 nights in west end, Plastik 1 night which was fun and getting pissed the other but that was unplanned... not as good as the time in Plastik.

Open mind or not, the west end is full of Tossa del Mar's every night, good time or not.

On return from Sunday Best (which was by far one of the best times i've ever had, cultured etc etc etc I could go on all night but I won't) we had to walk through the West End to get some drinks...I felt like getting straight back in the car and going back towards some civilised area of the island. (spelling is a bit crap at the moment but i'm under the influence of erm booze! wa hoo!)

It makes me sick sometimes that place but depends on my mood, i'll happily go to the west end and watch a Man Utd game...no probs there...the Chav is out for 90 mins! well 93 mins usually with injury time.

Anyway like someone said before...the West End keeps the Tossa del Mars away from other venues in San An, also the Chavs who go on hols to ibiza don't even know who Tiesto is or even what house is or anything slightly close to 'real' clubs. West End and British culture is all they know and always will know unless they are shown the light by someone who can put up with them.

define cultured.

using your argument one could say that the few big discos here keep the rest of the island a clubber free zone.

is that a good or a bad thing?
