Do we need more techno nights?
To answer that question, i need to make a long introduction.
First about the trance topic: I'm (currently) full into Techno. Previously i had my roots at the Dutch Gabber/Hardcore scene as DJ and Promotor. I switched because the HC scene didn't evolved. Its the same as already said about Trance. Currently i'm 20yrs in the "scene".
People who attending those events (as mentioned above) are Fans.
Ibiza is different because it's a holiday destination. People just come for a short period. And for that you need (sadly) a business -> you need to fill the clubs. you need a music which is familiar to the most of the people. And currently that's EDM and (tech)house. Yes, you can fill big venues also with Trance or Hardcore, but not on Ibiza. Thats just a local thing.
But about the Topic: Techno is a little bit different. Its not a biiig scene, but still present on Ibiza in many ways - because its a kind of hype now. Techno is underground. And underground is cool. And everybody wants to be cool

, so many Promotors/Clubs also try to be cool and everyone is waiting for the big bang (like EDM) to earn a lot of $$$.
A second important thing is motivation. Some Techno communities are currently extremely motivated, acting ultra professional - that's what i would call now the berlin-thing. (ENTER for example).
Another reason for so many techno nights is the techno itself: From outside Techno sounds like Techno

. But in real you have many sub-genres. And every sub-genre think it's a own scene and needs a own techno night.
Techno at the moment is really interesting: Currently you have a move from the old guys to a new fresh scene. The berlin-thing is a own style of techno. Its way more darker, deeper, BUT the DJs are really professional - its not 90mins of pure bass, song followed by song. Its a 90min travel, sounding like just one song. A real silent, dark, deep opening which focus your mind completely for the next 90mins, a build-up, a high energetic part, ups and downs, and a great outro.
The old guys are the minimal guys like Hawtin, Liebing, ... don't blame me for that, but that's are those 90min of the same style. ENTER last year with Liebing and Richie was one of the most boring nights for me last year. You feel that this minimal techno style is the same like it ways 5 years ago.
Do we need more techno nights?
Yes and No.
Yes from the point of view that a lot of parties on Ibiza are mixed-stlye parties. Yes because if i'm in a dark deep mood and lost completely my mind (due to the music

), the next DJ who plays a different style can destroy that mood. For me being on Ibiza is like sitting, chatting, outside, waiting for a techno DJ, shaking my ass of, an than back to the garden, repeating

. I think i'm not the only one acting like that, so yes for more techno nights.
No because of the Ibiza reality. Money. You can't fill a club if you are to focused. You can maybe do it at Eden or smth similar, but if you are a tourist on Ibiza, you want to go to the big clubs.
Techno is not easy. To love/like techno, you need to listen it a lot, going to a lot of techno parties. A short Ibiza trip is - to short^^.
