You cant blame the club for a 77 year old dying there though can you?

It was obviously just his time anyway.

no and i suppose you'd say the same for the young italian who died there last year as well ?

the sooner idiots realise that just because you come here doesnt give you a licence to take idiot drugs the sooner the better

Define 'idiot drugs'???

I don't think the majority of people do think they have a license to take drugs when they come to ibiza.
People take drugs in every country throughout the world.
And i'm sure people die from drugs in every country in the world also. And we all know people die from alcohol related incidents everyday yet i dont see clubs being blamed for this.

You cant possibly blame DC10 for people dying.
If someone goes into a club hiding a sh*t load of drugs on them and subsequently dies from them how is that the clubs fault??

And what difference does it make whether its an old man or a young italian?? What were you getting at there?
They are both human beings and both died.
Neither was the clubs fault.

I think DC10 should have taken a bigger responsibility in cracking down on the drugs there. They should have searched more people and threw people out caught dealing.

I haven't been since '06 but last time i was there. I saw pills being passed about openly in full view of the bar staff.

A less provoting term than MLKs "idiot drugs" would be "to take an idiotic mix of drugs" which the young italian had taken. As far as I have head he had taken a mix of uppers and downers and thats idiotic no matter what pepes in general think about drugs.

I think its tragic that DC10 has been closed for another season. Having said that I do feel there is a difference as to how strict you are searched at the different clubs. Someone said "why aren't Space or Pacha ever being closed". I have been to both clubs many times and feel I'm being searched like on most other European clubs in both of them. On DC10 and Amnesia, however, I tend to walk straight in.
Had the clubs taken the government slightly serious they could at least increased the checking at the door slightly.

As a comparison, they arrangers of Sensation White in Amsterdam said "we do what we can to stop the drugs at the door. Inside we focus foremost on the safety and wellbeing of our customers."

To me it seems like the clubs are fighting the government rather than finding a middleway that can work for all.

No, I believe people are responsible for their own actions.

If I chose to take a ridiculous cocktail of drugs, (which I don't) then it would be my fault and no-one else's for not searching me and taking them off me.

But then I'm a big believer in personal responsibility.

I don't think the majority of people do think they have a license to take drugs when they come to ibiza.

no, you are right - the majority dont - that doesnt mean that the minority dont come here and think they have a licence to so whatever they like

however there are a great deal of people who come here who leave their head at the check in desk and like it or lump it the local government is sick of the worldwide press that a small minority of tourists give the island

we've been talking about this the past few weeks here - we live here - we dont just turn up for 2 weeks a year - and to be honest i dont think most people here are in any way shape or form are surprised - you reap what you sow

however dc10 shuts down the weekend after the schools shut down? - so basically the argument about having clubbers around the same time as the school run is facetious

i dont think its any surprise that the week the club and health conference takes place is also the week that the palma decision over dc10 is overturned and kumharas gets nicked over one day in 2005

at the end of the year there will be a lot of discussions and i for one would not like to be a politician

i think what happened was that the guardia last year got fed up with people taking the p1ss - you can do what you like here as long as you dont take the p1ss

Having said that I do feel there is a difference as to how strict you are searched at the different clubs.

there's a friend of mine who can walk into any club in ibiza for free - but i've seen him chucked out of space and pacha for having a spliff because he took the p1ss

its a very tolerant island but dont take the p1ss

Well, I was there in August 06 and I personally saw 2 big ass guards catching a few dealers inside the club and throwing them out as they were open hand dealing like you said... dunno if you remember the huge bald guard with the Armani sunglasses, he was the manace of the club...

Plus, DC10 has one of the most detailed searching in the island, when I was there, 2 guards searched all over me, they even put a hand down my crotch... that was not pleasing...

But it doesnt matter how or how much they search, drugs will always find the way in, some girls hide it in their very very private areas, guards will not shove their hands into a girl's panties... or down a guy's balls...

Bull****, Space is never closed because Pepe Rosello owns the island, Space is a monopol, the Guardia Civil are on Pepe's payroll on a regular basis, they perform a very basic search... Space will never be closed, it owns 4 of the island busiest parties - Tenaglia, Carl Cox, Sundays and Matinee...

Sober up, it's all about money, DC10 is a tyrant to the commercialism which flooded Ibiza in the past years as said, it gave people a whole new meaning to the term clubbing, plus, and this is something to think about:

It's the only club in the island which managed to close Space's Monday after parties, simply because no people came, everybody goes to DC10 on Monday...

You get the point...

thats a very bold claim from someone who lives in israel ;)

I'm not quite certain how the fact that I live in Israel makes my statement bolder, if you can share your opinion about that I'd like to hear...

Don't get me wrong, I love Space, some of the best moments of my life were in the Terrace, with Danny Tenaglia, J Louis and Rebecca Brown in 2006, and in the Discoteca in 2005/2006 with Carl Cox and John Digweed... Space is definitely the place.

But lets face the facts, its no secret that Space owns the Island, the drugs are there, just like they are in DC10, Amnesia, Privilege and any other club in the island, it's all a matter of money.

You should watch the movie about the drug dealing in Ibiza, did you know that every year the Guardia Civil are getting a full month holiday in August which is the peak of the season?

And that if they catch you with 15 pills its considered to be self usage, but if you walk around with a joint/spliff, you can go to jail for posession, for up to 3 years?

I don't wanna write my opinion loud and clear as I will probably get flamed for it, but if you read my last post carefully, you will understand what I mean when I compare Space to DC10.

What you say is in line with the general perception on this forum I think. Most people on here think this has mostly to do with politcs and connections which might or might not be right.

I'm saying that if more people have the same experience as I have when comparing policy in DC10+Amnesia compared to Space+Pacha the clubs give the governemt more fuel as they don't seem to change procedures and it would cost them very little to be a little more strict compared to the cost of closeure for two months...

oh please - you watch a documentary about ibiza and that means you know it all ?

But lets face the facts, its no secret that Space owns the Island

what facts ?

if pepe owned the island - which he doesnt - then how come space have been forced to not open until 4.30pm ?

And that if they catch you with 15 pills its considered to be self usage, but if you walk around with a joint/spliff, you can go to jail for posession, for up to 3 years?

you've been smoking too much....

that link on the website is dead, it used to be on google video but got removed for some reason

It isn't anywhere on the net now. There was a rumour that Pepe Rosello's people were threatening to sue the BBC over footage of people taking drugs in Space in that documentry (Drugland Ibiza) so maybe that's why it got removed.

I thought that film was a bit onesided and the undercover guys went to places where drugs were rife (i.e. westend) and wrongly portrayed the rest of the island as being like that.

It was funny seeing Brandon Block off his tits on E whilst djing then offering to get the reporter pills on camera...

I don't know it all, but I'm smart enough to put 1+1 together, Space only got ordered not to open during the morning, it never got closed...

And about the drugs, watch it yourself: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/4134919.stm

you stated as fact the following:
pepe owns the island
pepe has the guardia civil on his payroll

and to substantiate this you reference a completely biased tv documentary

hmmm....

maybe you need some maths lessons
