DC10 getting demolished

heard nasty rumors that its getting demolished after the new year is it true or a lot of rubbish ,hopefully the latter ?

and what about El Divinio

isn't that gonna get demolished to make way for the new harbour walls?

just got back from 8 days on the island & it appears the roadwork development will affect the DC-10 site in some way, the plan was to make yesterdays the last one & Superfreq has been pulled from wednesday. I heard they were hoping to go ahead with the closing party though next week.

I hope they knock it down anyways, its gone past its sell by date, it was amazing until a couple of years ago since then it has always been a massive disappointment, Hawtin & Villalobos b2b at 6pm on a monday night ffs. Magda was average & Steve Bug was amazing & that was it

the place gets full of idiots by 4pm & the coppers are all the place like a bad rash

Different strokes for different folks.

I think it beats the pants of Space fifty times over.

Hawtin & Villalobos are great! 8)

I think DC10 rocks. One of the best afternoons I had on my last trip.

To hell with all this "used to be so much better" crap. Great tunes. Great terrace. All kinds of randoms. When it got too crowded (around 9pm), we just left. Definitely going back next year 8)

Without sounding like a 'back in the day' whinger   I'm afraid I agree with you. I'm always up for embracing change and things are inevitably going to change in Ibiza but for us and the people we were with we all said the place has gone down the pan over recent years. Maybe I'm just holding onto some of my best memories of Ibiza where you'd get the likes of Danny T, X-Press 2 and Lottie turning up and playing impromptu sets and rolling round on the cushions at 8am in the morning post-Space waiting for the terrace to open with lots of other like minded post-Space reprobates.

Last week felt like it was just full of people who'd read in Mixmag this year that it's the new 'cool place to go' There was hardly any of the old happy smiley people of old and there was a lot of attitude and aggression. We did say when we left that we wouldn't be going back (altho I have been known to say that before   ).

have been every year for the last 4, since it didn't have the roof on the terrace etc and thought that this year was easily the most enjoyable trip there I have ever had, the quailty of the music was amazing...I only ever go once a year, but this year I will be going back out purely to go to DC10 closing.

Sure it's changed and isn't a ramshackle 'anything could happen' after-party but for me it's now changed into the main event. I will no longer go to Space etc (of which I have heard nothing but bad reports the last 2 years) but will just save myself for DC10 which muscially and atmosphere wise still seems streets-ahead to me.

who cares if the crowd has changed, I'm much more interested in the music and the music being played was Jose de devinia, Ryan Elliot etc was absolutely amazing.....

each to their own, but for me it's still the main reason to go to ibiza.

p.s - HOWEVER it does get far too busy - thats my only gripe though!

To play devils advocate:

I think it's just as moody as its always been.
When it opened it was just as edgy as it is now. It's just busier.
I think it's much crazier now too so I actually prefer it these days.
...I don't understand the Mixmag bit - isn't Space full of exactly that: Mixmag readers and San An types?

Yes, gone are the days where it was more DIY and big names turned up for free, but the novelty factor could never last forever.
I also miss the scuzzy loos and the Space carry on aspect.

...but for me, it's much betterer and still just as crazy - anyone who looks at utube can see the evidence.

I really don't agree with that, we've been going to DC10 since it first opened and was free and I've never seen any attitude in there like there was last week. All the fun smiley mad people were definitely in the minority

I meant the types of monkeys who last year were probably into funky house or whatever the latest bandwagon was and this year it's all about DC10/secretsundaze/minimal techno for them  They'll have moved on by next year to whatever the latest fad is

We still had lots of fun in DC10 and I'm sure I'll make an appearance in the future   but for us the club has changed and not for the better but everyone is entitled to their opinion (and I'm too happy to disagree with anyone today - have I told you I'm getting married  ;) )

We only saw fun smiley mad people when we were there in June :D
Seriously, I didn't come across any attitude...

Your definition of fun smiley and mad must be different to mine then  ;)

I think we just compare it to the DC10 of old which was one of the best clubbing experiences imaginable for us, now it's distinctly more average but I can see why people who haven't been before would love it cos daytime clubbing is always different and exciting (and you know me I'll probably be looning round the place next June after having completely forgotten this thread  )

I have to see if I caught some of the people around in any of my film footage. There were definitely mad and smiley people about

It's not just the daytime clubbing experience - in 6 years I've never seen these kinds of people in Space either first thing in the morning or mid-afternoon. There's a definitely better vibe about DC10. Could very easily vary from week to week, though, I suppose...

(see you there next June ;))

I have went every year for the last 4 and have not noticed any more moody people than normal.

In fact, I actually find that now it is a 'proper' event as opposed to an afterparty, it has lots of people like myself who turn up nice and fresh and have saved their enthusiasim and braincells specially for this massive session..

..as opposed to 4 years ago when there was no roof, it was VERY bright, hardly anyone had been to bed and there were LOTS of paranoid moody people....of cousre that bright light, stay-up-forever feel was part of it's appeal but for my money it has now matured into a proper event, with much better music (fatboy slim and pete tong - no thanks), a passionate up for it crowd and a better layout (that middle bar was a nightmare)..

I know tons of people who go to ibiza every year for a week or 2 and will not go to any other parties during their whole stay other than DC10, I believe thats because it does still offer something very special.

With barbie on this one and I keep the 2001/2 ? appearence by DT as great souvenir.
Morbyd; you were on a good day probably but we experienced the agressive crowd same as Barbie.

:lol::lol::lol:

I'm determined to burst your bubble by being objectionable aren't I?

You said the same about X Central too remember...and you love the sunset terrace!

Well I LOVE Circoloco/X Central/SS and think the sunset terrace is a big pile of poo...so am trying to balance the opinion polls. ;)

Circoloco was crazy when I was there in June - and it's ALWAYS been edgy - everyone's ben saying it for years and you've always disagreed.

It's also where all the bandwagon jumpers who wanted to be cool ended up hense the trashy, silly looking crowd.

Now can we talk about dogs and weddings please? What are you going to wear? 8O

I was in dc10 this year and althoguh the music was spot on i found the vibe on edge. Didnt help with the crowding. Plenty of barging ppl etc. I can pput up with it to a extent but there were some points where me and the ppl around were growing a bit tired of it.

Music i thought was spot on.

As for the Mixmag point if you have ppl only going to ibiza on a 2 week holiday every year how else do you expect them to hear about clubs like DC10:?: It doesnt mean there not into the music.

   You're determined to spoil my 'just got engaged haze' aren't you   ;)

I've just turned into one of those moaning 'it was much better back in the day' types haven't I

Yes let's move on to wedding and dog talk (have I told you how happy they were to see us yesterday, I thought they'd been on the speed how excited they were to be back home 8O  ).

(PS DC10 was still way better when it first opened  ;) )
