I don't deliberately antagonise anyone. Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I know I'm an annoying individual but they also know I don't try to be annoying on purpose. Further more, they have been exposed to people who DO try to be annoying on purpose and there is a stark contrast in the quality of our personality.
Basically, I'd rather be hated for trying to do something good (which in this case is trying to establish some cival behaviour and respect towards people with different opinions.) than be liked for being the same as everyone else and just being accepted for liking the same things as everyone.
Olly seemed to remember me from somewhere else if I remember correctly but I can't remember where. (I'm hated all over the internet
) but, it's always the same people, same groups, same players in every game. I'm strong. I'm stronger than that. I get banned alot yes, but every time I get banned, people are saying "well why? Because he offered an opinion and when the 'major' players ripped on it he defended it? That's not right", meanwhile the ones who are giving me the ****s are saying "woohoo we won" and acting all smug, but 6 months later, they're still mentioning my name on their boards. Not only that, they're boards seem to go ALOT quieter.
At the very least, for all the drama that comes about from my immature retaliations, atleast they cause some form of entertainment. Where ever I am, is never boring. The same people always say it is, but then again they are always the same ones responding to it who have nothing entertaining to contribute. They're not giving me attention because I'm an attention seeker, they're seeking entertainment from me at my expense because they are bored. But they can't cure that boredom with discussion, (possibly because they're too stupid to), so they cure it with insults and so thats why its always a back and forth bickering form of online slapstick.
End of the day, theres no denying I'm making it hard for myself, but to take the easy way out would only give my end product the same strength as my competitors. I want to be alot more than just some internet Dj who got a few gigs from a few people he met on the net and then everyone forgot about. It might mean I have to piss everyone off, but thats not done on purpose. It's a consequence of what I'm trying to acheive but in the end the result will be a better quality for it.
It means I get no internet gigs from people, but everyone else does, so it also means I'm in a position to create my own kind of thing. I'm able to act outside of club culture and create either something different all together, or an abstract variation of that. An alternative to it which, alot of people with in that culture find hard to understand and fathom because they can't imagine anything beyond it because they're coming from a standard of gig that is low. They're coming from a standard where by, liking David Guetta is frowned upon. Where the music is so boring you need drugs or alcahol to enjoy it. Where, Dj's need numbers, not talent. Where popularity is judged by lists, (be it guest lists or top 100 lists) and where by your own personality is dictated to you by any mannor of things like, dress codes and cliche's.
Some people get it. They are rare I'll admit that, but the quality of person who does get it is of a standard you can't begin to comprehend. The people who 'get' me, well, if everyone had friends like them, people like Olly wouldn't even have a chance to rip on people like me and everyone would be smarter for it. As much as people look at me here and say "wow what an embarassment", theres another group saying "well, why is it so wrong to like David Guetta? Why is it so wrong to ask what to by a hot chick for her birthday? Are these people really a representation of what the scene is?"
