What happened to the drug they found that could help a big % of the very ill. I read somewhere that it could cut deaths by 60-80% I think?!

Have not seen that, although there are a number of therapeutics in late stage trials aimed at calming the cytokine storm (what causes severe cases). Merck just bought one of them. There will be a lot of news on therapeutics in the next 3 months.

I've done some work on post ICU PTSD, delirium can be horrific. Follow up tends to be really poor but thankfully more hospitals are taking it seriously now

Hopefully things ease for him

as of today, people arriving on international flights (or ferries that originated outside of spain) have to show a negative PCR covid test which was made 72hrs or less before departure in the country of origin. important detail: the text of the test has to be either in spanish or in english - other languages are NOT accepted currently. if you fail to bring a test and they check you, an antigen rapid test will be made at the airport. this won't be free though - you'll have to pay a penalty fee (details to follow, I think in the first few days they might not fine you for it). I also heard that currently they don't check everybody, but use an aleatoric system.

I think it's only a matter of time until antigen tests will be accepted too. apparently the european commission has said yes to antigen tests being valid for border control and the autonomic government of the canary islands is already negotiating with the spanish central government to have antigen tests OK'ed (mind, for the canaries winter is their main season so I understand it's really urgent for them).

it might still take a while and for the balearics it's also not very urgent as we're off season right now, but my gut feeling tells me antigen tests will be accepted too for next summer. the PCRs are the most reliable, but they're just too expensive and take too long.

Wait till he finds out he won't be able to get in the country without it. Anyway when was the last time Steve Lawler played in Australia ?

UK; 11299 new cases, a fall of 5000 since yesterday, which fell about the same from the day before, better news than anyone could imagine. What it will mean is when the new tiers come in, as the cases continue to fall (and deaths after the lag) withing a week there will be calls for areas in 3/2 to be immediately reduced to 2/1.

This could mean if they do - lockdown ending early = cases ricing again OR businesses closed or restricted unnecessarily when they could be opened.

I think my area will be in T3; but this time next week, when T3 begins, there will be so few new cases that they (and I) will be calling for the tier to be reduced - and we will have to wait the stautory fortnight for that to happen. If they could just WAIT until this current lockdown ends - and then decide?
