Taxes and laws make society. Complete freedom from those is anarchy, literally. Right to do whatever you want when you want. Thus society is giving up absolute freedoms for benefits society brings ?‍♂️

Also be careful not to conflate what happens after covid with gov Brexit law changes (employment rights and so on).

And honestly, not meeting mates in a pub during a pandemic is a rational restriction. (Btw even in tier 3 still can meet people outside in public spaces)

I don't see how the gov would want to keep that or other restrictions they have had to impose, grudgingly and very late each time any longer than have too. Cause means less money for them and a headache.

Tories - we want least responsibility as possible. For anything ?
Time will tell.

I can deal with the tier system. The one thing I wanted was the gyms open, which they will be so that's good. As I've currently moved back in to my mum's house I'm not really going to the pub anyway, the area I'm in will most likely be tier 2, or 3 if they're going to be more harsh but that would mean most of the UK in tier 3.

A month today and I'll be 30 though, I wonder if I'll be able to visit the pub?

A professor in human behaviour and sociology made the point the gov are having to do something for xmas, cause like you said, people will say bollox to it, break the rules. But then afterwards people will just not give a toss and not go back to the rules and we still have several months of winter to get through. So a "sanctioned" small window of relaxation of rules might mitigate that.

People still might go bollox to it though.

So in a way it kinda points to the people controlling the politicians into making flawed decisions. Not a new uber authoritarian state.?

For starters there ain't enough police/army to enforce anything even if they went along with following orders to do so.

While we all may be sick of this shit, the uk isn't been setup to be like 1984. The leadership are far too incompetent for that ?
Interesting take. I think the government give way when they know they can’t control and build in mechanisms to enable control either side of an organised loss of control. So they have here for the reasons you state, not disagreeing with you at all.

I did think the government were completely incompetent. Now I look at other centre right and right wing states and question this. The reason is lack of transparency. Ask any Manc or scouser that has had to feel with tier 3. They still don’t know the way out.

If in tier 1 you will. In tier 2 you can with a substantial meal. In tier 3 you won’t. Pleased you got the gym back. I eel the same about grassroots football.

Many of the current crop are competent at disaster capitalism and will have made a pretty penny while normal procurement rules were ignored.

Cause there isn't a way out until vaccine rolled out for all, or alternative you just dig a lot of graves. ?‍♂️

It's very seductive to think the gov is able to pull off such things, but in reality they see just greedy little pigs at the trough. Heck haven't even got the essex lorry park finished for jan 1st ?

Interesting watch about how capitalism is failing on it promises. Probs what the elite already know..

Anyhow that's enough digression into that ?

Ress mogg dad wrote the book on it. Literally a book:

Yeah, it just depends whether i think it's worth it or if pub rules are slightly relaxed at Christmas (Doubtful). I was actually thinking about joining a team around here as one negative about moving out of London is being unable to play football ?

E
This is our problem in Morecambe we are part of Lancaster City Council, which has the lowest rates in Lancashire. But we're waiting to see if we get grouped into tier 3 with Lancashire County Council (effectively Blackburn, Burnley and all the other high-rate areas over an hours drive away) whilst our neighbours in Kendal (15 mins up the M6) will be in tier 1, despite having higher cases
Don't blame us ??

30. Jesus christ! You bloody kids get off my lawn ?.
Might be some extra allowances for 5 days around xmas. Well that is the rumour (probs indoor private homes for all tiers)

It's getting harder to fit in on the west end if it survives though ? . Was in Zante this year and i felt out of place and i normally get away with passing as a few years younger haha.

Fingers crossed, it sounds nonsensical, but actually pubs are 'covid secure' with precautions in place so are actually a safer place than a home where families are likely to forget about distancing. I've never been a hugger at all so I'm finding this social distancing from family easy
