so what, there's apparently a second new strain that's EVEN more contagious? I literally just read that now.
Chances are, the new strain is already around us. The UK is simply doing a lot more gene sequencing of the virus than other countries, that's why mutations are discovered in the UK first. Kind of unfair that the UK is being punished for doing better research with a flight ban.

Meanwhile, statistics from the biggest German health insurer (AOK) show that school and preschool teachers is the profession with the highest Covid-19 sickness rate (link in German). So much for the "schools are not covid-19 spreading ground" lie from our Kanzlerin :(

... and there's still no plan to offer vaccinations to teachers in UK yet Boris is still banging on about schools reopening next term

A secondary school teacher I know showed me a letter detailing strike action in January, citing lack of safety at work. It remains to be seen if the school will actually be open in January so they might not get the chance

I was surprised teachers are not further up the list too.
Most of them, especially in primary school cannot wear sufficient PPE either.
The unions should get involved on safety grounds and go on strike - you would find PPE is found for them within a week.

It's not due to PPE shortage, its because they can't teach 5 year old children wearing masks, nor can primary school children be expected to wear masks for the teachers protection

Some senior schools are
What is the situation/what are the "rights" for a teacher who has a partner who falls into the "at risk" category = maybe they are late middle-aged, have a heart condition or asthma? If the teacher gets covid, they may well be Ok but if they are asymptomatic then they could pass it on to their partner and it be deadly?
Do those teachers have a right to stay off school?

I'm guessing the same as us in health care, basically just get on with it

Cheers. Hotel were very confused as why Jet 2 were making us leave earlier than planned. On the first coach leg of long day as I type....
12 hours door to door. Notable that a woman on the coach to the airport in Tenerife told the rep that she hadn't done her passenger locator form, as her phone was broken, and was told do it on arrival. They were only doing random checks of these at Brum and she breezed through unchallenged....

Glad you finally made it home. Sounds like a long day of travelling for you and the family.
What a sh*t show the checks are. Makes such a mockery of things.
