We’re used to the masks as they’ve been compulsory here since March. So it’s no change for us.

it’s literally just a mask. I actually don’t see the big deal. As soon as you’re sat at your dinner/bar table or on your beach towel you can remove it

I know, to cancel a holiday on this basis would be mental in my view. We are used to it now I guess Tiff so I can get the trepidation but it’s probably going to be a new way of life. Having to wear a mask in the uk (it’s coming - look at scotland tomorrow) or in Ibiza, I know what I’d choose!

while I do understand your post, I have to be honest - in the heat it's really not great going around with a mask. no matter if you're used to it or not (I am now), I'll never go as far as to say 'easy peasy' and I personally truly believe it's a step too far. we're not catalonia where this idea has started. catalonia has one huge city and other fairly big towns and thus a far bigger population density. we've currently got a really good epidemic situation here on the balearics (and more so here on ibiza). we've not got any big crowds anywhere. if ibiza was as busy as it usually is in july I would say 'ok fine, mask compulsory in ibiza town, sta e and san an' or similar, but it isn't busy anywhere at all. truly, this is the first time I'm personally feeling treated unfairly by the government. I've understood all the steps so far, each one of them. not this one though.

Just in shops, which I can live with because I'm only at the supermarket for 30 minutes once a week. Doesn't look like they're required indoors in a pub when they re-open on Wednesday. ? Ultimately, it seems to me a bit pointless going into a social situation & having to wear a mask. Eating out, going on holiday, etc all cost money and if you can't relax, doesn't seem worth it to me. Would rather just have a ? in my back garden, even in the rain. ?

Totally agree with what you say especially if it’s not that packed. But in perspective it was 53 degrees here yesteray and we did fine! Whilst I appreciate there are very few cases now, welcoming tourists is a new threat and makes sense to me to minimise. Hopefully the policy will be policed sensibly (ie leniency). I’ll see for myself in September

For me going away for a break is the time I can completely relax and feel free, forget about all the stress at home and not be looking over my shoulder wondering what rules I'm going to be told I'm breaking next. Let alone the risk of an area suddenly being put into lockdown and having to try to flee after making such an effort to get there.

I've no doubt you could pretty much orchestrate a trip where you go places you're not going to be stopped or challenged and only have to slip on a mask between the car and your room / table though, just stay off the booze and drugs, rent a car and get out into the Campo. Bit like the trips I usually make these days tbh

I am enough of a nervous wreck being indoors in a supermarket for 3/4 of an hour though with a car full of sterilizing wipes and sprays. There's just no way on earth I could imagine getting on a plane and navigating through airports, car rental, hotel, eating out and meeting people socially - if I won't even do any of that at home there's no way I'd do it abroad ! If I was sitting on a bus to work every day or working in a face-to-face job I probably wouldn't think twice about it as it's no riskier than the life I was already leading. I think the same will be true of many people travelling - many will be the very same people who are already in higher risk situations (in terms of getting infected or passing it on) at home.

Looks like potentially music venues could open in Scotland, just not before July 31st. Interesting, as I have a few rescheduled gigs for autumn.. Also depends on the artists being able to get into Scotland obviously.. De La Soul? Lee Scratch Perry? Caribou?

Tbh, just being able to socialise relatively normally again in Scotland would be novelty enough right now, and would come with far less worries than doing so abroad!

As a British tourist flying over on Sunday, can I just confirm that if I sit in a restaurant/beach bar with my family we don't need to wear the mask? And only walking around the streets and on public transport we would be required to wear one? I'm 50/50 on this, I struggle breathing due to chronic sinusitis at the best of times and wearing a mask in the ibiza heat - well I'm dreading it to be honest. But I do also understand that they need to keep the island open and an outbreak would effectively close it back down again.

Edit - I know we need to wear them in supermarkets and shops also.

you know we live in Dubai right?

only kidding of course, but we have managed absolutely fine in this heat. I’ve spent the last 4 weeks at various staycations around the city and gone out to pool/beach areas on the daily with a mask on until I’ve got to my lounger/bed. Yes, maybe it’s was tough in the beginning, but it’s very easy to get used to.
