Well here in the UK we've just had the most baffling and bizarre PM's press conference ever. The pubs and clubs haven't been forced to shut down, but we've been basically politely asked not to go. If no-one goes, theres's no help for them if the money isn't coming in. Oh, and schools are remaining fully open.

Thanks boris......

Im trying to stay positive. Looking to see if any hotels or rooms I couldn't normally afford are dropping prices. Hoping for one of those roof balcony hot tubs at Torre Del Mar :)
I wouldn't be too optimistic about that.

Not sure how seasonal hotels like Torre del Mar operate (are they hiring and then firing the staff every year?), but it's probably cheaper for them simply not to open if the demand is low.

The damn virus is totally useless even in this respect :(

that has been wildly under-reported. I wish they'd tell us it'll all be fine, but that doesn't seem to be what they're saying really. I looked at something on CNN (american news) called full circle w/ a doctor on their staff called Sanjay Gupta, and he was downplaying this making it sound like influenza; something far more common, is more serious or at least causes more deaths.

I still wish I knew more! :)
Hard to believe what's reported because no one knows...and they are scaremongers... China have a better understanding as they dealt with it

I am the eternal optimist. I still think the summer will be salvaged. I don't see governments world-wide forcing a economic depression to stop the virus (as its been described, at least). Not saying its not serious ... only time will tell. The 'flatten the curve' idea is fine until you realize that we would need to maintain restricted movements for (many) months. How many regular people can support themselves without working that long? We will see what happens in China as they start the factories back up this month. They were shut down about two months. I suspect people will get sick again, but they wont go back on lock-down for a 2nd time.

Anyway, "it is what it is"...

Realistically, it will be a slow year in Ibiza. Even if things open up for mid-May or June, most people will be to scared to travel or not have the resources after spending the previous two months (under)employed or with their own shop closed.

Maybe (just maybe) for those that make the trip it will be a classic Ibiza summer of yore'. Smaller crowds and lower insta-to-freak ratio, and all that.

Checking flights to Ibiza. First available flight is now April 30th.
