I worry about this impact so much, I still worry what we will find when we finally open all these doors after lock-down - abuse of all kinds sadly.
And people who live reclusive lives even before all this ☹️ you always hear stories of people of all ages being found dead with no family or friends to keep in touch with..

I found a load of FFP2 masks in the garage must easily be 10+ years old, were left over from when we were doing a lot of work inside the house like sanding etc. Tried one on and the elastic lasted precisely 5 seconds before snapping - hope the relabeled stock they sent to the NHS fared better ?

Switzerland arguably has a superior healthcare system with double the amount of beds per capita. Switzerland had stockpiles of necessary equipment and their military was a factor and they also did more of lockdown.

There was a mask shortage. The swiss authorities lied about it, stating masks don't protect you.
The military were helping to keep borders closed. They build some military hospitals (tents) and (quickly) dissembled them because there was no need for.( Keep in mind, we'll be voting to purchase new military jets soon). More of PR stint.
There was no strict lockdown in switzerland.

Still seriously considering a July booking. BA Holidays have some good deals on flights + hotel at the moment and their 'book with confidence' policy means even if you change your mind, government restrictions etc you can still get the full value in a travel voucher valid until April 2022. Stivi whats it been like for restaurants etc opening up? Most returning to work or fairly limited while people find their feet?

I had a June booking, but was able to change everything to July. Just had to pay some extra to Transavia because flight tickets in July are a few euros more expensive than the June ones. It seems that July is looking more and more realistic. And if the virus causes problems and restrictions are put back up I'll get vouchers after all.
Just make sure everything you book has a good cancel & refund policy, flights, hotel, rental car etc.

I've managed to switch my Easyjet and Ryanair flights to September (finally Ryanair cancelled with a couple of weeks to go). Feeling hopeful. Hotels do seem quite expensive though...the same as normal or maybe slightly more. I think as long as we don't get a second peak, holidays will be possible from July.

I am starting to get tentatively excited again....

Still hopeful for September, but if that doesn't go ahead I'll write this year off entirely and save up to spend on spring holidays next year. A lot going forward will depend on what travel health insurance covers us for - and if there's a gap then whether there will be an EHIC equivalent that we can use in Spain. If insurance won't cover CV and there are no reciprocal UK/ESP medical arrangements then - what?? - it's off to a country that does; or Gibraltar.

ibiza thread updated with the latest numbers and some news.

I'm still feeling positive for september. I'm currently actually feeling positive for the period from july to october.

also, if you read the ibiza thread - I can't see them making it compulsory to wear face masks on the beach and such. we'll have to await details for that new rule.

I am currently involved in the expansion of Manchester airports terminal 2. The word from the airport here is, they are planning an increase in the flight schedule from July. Face masks will be compulsory within the airport terminals.

The interesting news is they are focused on getting their bussing facilities ready for when the flight schedule increases. there will be a greater emphasis on bussing passengers to their planes as opposed to long queues of passengers waiting & queuing at gates within the terminal buildings.

that spells hope! we could well be back in the game after all

EasyJet could be in all kinds of bother at the moment....
If your CC details have been compromised then you should have had an e-mail off them. But otherwise, yes indeed; thumping big fines coming their way. That could kill them off, which is why they should bang up those involved with security instead.
