I'm and engineer, wife's a nurse, and this this just my opinion:

The "Swedish" model isn't a good comparison for any other country that i'm aware of. Sweden didn't lock down, but they didn't just let the virus run rampant either. They issued social distancing guidelines that some of the population adhered to and some didn't. Their measured response was wholly based on their population's acceptance of risk and their gamble that herd immunity could be obtained with minimal casualties. Basically Sweden traded lives for their economy.

Also, be careful in comparing numbers from one country to another. It's possible that the testing methods/resources are very different, reporting, etc. It's not always apples to apples (ie the Swiss healthcare system might have been more prepared to handle the pandemic and that's why their #s are lower).

I'm of the opinion that what we see now in Sweden is what we're going to get from most countries after they open up. There are going to be infections and outbreaks, but as long as it's below the economic pain threshold (the point at which a country is willing to re-shutdown their economy completely) we;re going to see life return slowly. The largest factors in all of this are going to be population density and political appetite for death.
Well said ?

Wow, the Dutch government officially tells its people to f... themselves!!! ??

“Don’t have sex with your partner if they have been isolated because of (suspected) coronavirus infection,” the RVIM says. “Sex with yourself or with others at a distance is possible

i just read on a fb group that with vueling , u receive a a voucher and if u want a refund u have to call a number
If lucky to have someone answering the phone in uk or spanish language, u' ll be refund within 8 weeks but some people complain they havent been refunded after 8 weeks as promised by a mail following their call...
For the voucher, looks like, u have to use it b4 winter 2020, they should let 1 year delay.
Let me know in case u choose refund option ,if u get refunded and within how many weeks?

Good to know, keep you updated how long it takes. First step email ... „we‘ll send you instructions for refund within 10days...“ what seemed to be weird already :-)

Wayne Lineker is back on the island, seems a new grandchild is imminent, but also surely must be hopeful at least some his businesses can get going soon.

Switched my flights to Ibiza without additional costs from JUNE to JULY.
Was also able to switch my b&b booking and rental car to July.

While I know it still looks very uncertain....I wanted to create the chance of going in July if everything goes according to plan.
If by government, airline or whatever reason I still get my money back or a voucher for 2021. Fingers crossed.

An order from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda published in Spain’s Official State Gazette (BOE) this Friday, has designated just five airports through which travelers from outside Spain may now enter the country. These are: Gran Canaria (Las Palmas); Josep Tarradellas Barcelona -El Prat; Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas; Málaga -Costa del Sol; and Palma de Mallorca.

The order takes effect this Saturday May 16 and will be remain in force until at least May 24.

The sea ports designated as the only points of entry are Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Valencia and Vigo.

These are the only facilities that have been established as entry points, with the capacity to attend public health emergencies of international importance by agreement of the Council of Ministers back in 2014, in compliance with International Health Regulations. Quarantine measures for passengers from abroad must be established for a minimum of 14 days, and all travelers into the country will be required to stay at their homes or hotels for the entirety of two-week period announced earlier this week.

The order, published today, is applicable to passenger flights originating from any airport outside Spanish territory and passenger ships that provide services on regular routes.
