Seems baffling to go into complete lock downs. The virus won't go away and when restrictions ease, those that haven't caught it will and pass it on again.

I am not a Boris fan, but the UK policy does make sense

It's about slowing the spread down so the NHS can cope with the numbers at any one time rather than reducing the number of people who will eventually get it.

Indeed. The UK chief medical officer believes six in ten of us need to get it to create some form of immunity within the population. The delaying tactics are going to mean this is going to be with us for months, if not years, or until a vaccine is discovered. When this is done governments will be judged on the proportion of the population that died. A lot of politicians are going to face a ( probably metaphorical) lynching as a result.

What we need is a Virtual Ibiza.

I'm gonna clear out the dining room (OK, the biggest room in the house which is too fecking big to afford to heat in winter) when it's warmer and the sun finally beating down here (it's got to some day, right??) and sprinkle sand all over the floor. Gonna buy a largeish kiddies pool and fill that up to paddle in. Add sun lounger, sun umbrella, speakers with Ibiza Sonica Club playing, get the bloke next door to walk in every 15 mins trying to sell me knock-off cack, and do it all stark naked just like Salinas or Levante.

And at night project the video I have of Bar Luzz onto the largest wall, prop myself up on a stool, pour a large ice-cold lager and pretend I'm there.

You can take Ibiza and Formentera from the man, but you can't take Ibiza and Formentera out of the man.

on the upside, the amount of new music coming out in about a month or so (after all the DJs and producers aren't having any gigs anymore) should be absolutely mental!
You know as well as I do that most DJs now couldn't plug in a 1210 let alone make a record..

Genius. Can I join you my good man?

Presently, I'm considering a pneumococcal vaccine for myself to prevent death from coronavirus. Because isn't that what happens? I should be looking into it first, but I don't want to die of COVID 19, or pneumonia caused by it. The staff at my primary care physician's office has sent a message to my doctor asking whether it's appropriate. I can't get it without a prescription because I'm not very old; I'm forty and you're supposed to be 65 or 70 or something at which point I think you can walk up to any given pharmacy and get it.

This is not the place for questions like that. Ask a doctor. And if he says it will protect you then let us know so we can tell the rest of the population of the world.

I discovered actually that it's a different kind/strain. So getting a special inoculation, though seemingly intelligent, would do no good against the type of pneumonia that is killing everyone.

Thanks for weighing in.... ;)

I think that the absolute best is to be inquisitive and find out/communicate whatever you can. If you don't think so, please do say why.

We have closure everywhere. Coachella, if you haven't heard of it, is a festival that attracts guests worldwide. They've cancelled their April event. South by Southwest. I think Ultra... so many. And schools, as you know, have also close up.

This is extremely serious. Are your concerns represented here? I try to provide the best possible information - including about possible pneumonia protections.

Is it anyone's agenda to keep clubs open anyway? :)

I was pretty fascinated by the chief scientific advisor's approach to this in the UK. His round of interviews on Friday were incredible given the backdrop of the wider European approach. Everything he said sounded innovative. But the net is closing. I liked what he was saying but people are taking decisions over and above the advice. They’re scared. They’re veering towards the more drastic approaches to “contain” this in their own terms. Locking down. I’m guessing next week things will tighten again big time. I fear for the long lasting repercussions in so many ways. Make Everyone Well Again ffs. ✊

Ask a doctor? And you're the authority on what's appropriate I'm to gather....

Yes, when I find out anything from the CDC or other, you'll be the very first to know...

You have changed your tune from a fortnight ago. I thought you were a medical professional? There is no public evidence to suggest there are different strains at this stage. There isn’t a cure. There isn’t a vaccine. We should all know this. We should also know that the mortality rate for under 40 year olds is very low in the context of age and death rate. Anything else is hyperbole and your suggestions are frankly absurd and run the risk of scaring people (beyond a reasonable level under the circumstances) unnecessarily. I suggest you get help to deal with anxiety or trolling issue. Sorry if this post offends. But I’m not really very sorry.
