Worth a read, published 2 days ago.

And then if you add this to the mix...IF those numbers are representative....

if you ever spend any time in Spain (other than to attend fancy dress parties) you would soon understand that the Swedish approach would have been a total disaster in the cities here. I'm not attacking you. I just think you have no idea how bad things have been until now.

LOL at that first newspiece. it compares sweden to switzerland and literally says 'a similar small country'. sweden is 11 times bigger than switzerland, but only has 1.5M more inhabitants (10M compared to 8.5M). thus the population density in switzerland is far bigger and therefore I'm not surprised at all that there are more cases than in sweden. that's just an outrageously bad comparison IMO.
Well, bad comparison between Sweden and Switzerland it is then, but since Sweden comes up here often I just wanted to put this article out here.
Im curious to see if Sweden can keep up their approach.

I'm not saying this approach would have worked in Spain or Italy like @Tourist already stated.

Oh I do. We have friends in Spain we're in touch with. You're saying 'Im not attacking you' but do feel the need to imply we only go to Spain for fancy dress parties. Ah well.
Im not saying the Sweden approach works everywhere. We dont even know if the approach works for Sweden itself, but since their method came up here earlier, I wanted to provide this article as a follow up.
And as Stivi pointed out, the source might not be a bit questionable but at least it's not the media of one country bashing another country's approach.

there's a lot of countries where this approach would be impossible. firstly because of the population density and secondly because of the social manners. I'm not surprised that sweden did it that way - their social manners and not very dense population are good starting points for that.

if their approach works still needs to be seen. it started off well, but in the meantime they've got more cases than some of their neighbours.

just to point out - I wish every country could do it 'the swedish way', but as @Tourist said, for a lot of countries, it would have meant disaster.

anyway... from Sp angle, all eyes on what Sanchez announces at the end of April. The expectation (if projections are correct) is that some restrictions will be relaxed to help business but sounds like homeworking will continue. Beyond that though, who knows. all conjecture right now.

US has 2000 additional deaths in 24 hours , caused by covid. If it goes further , there will be 3000 a day , next week.
Can see how dangerous this virus is.

Btw : US had 5000 deads per week in the pacific , to see what the number means: Its like a war

sorry, but first that russian page you quoted last week and now this...I do consider your views, but the sources you post from - no way josé.

Same here, laughable.

Well...in that case, I need to stress that I did not find that site because I follow it or because im interested in those matters.
It was brought up in a discussion about the Sweden approach vs the Dutch approach in a dutch social media discussion.

Edit: and never said anything about the Swedish approach in regards to the Spanish approach...before everyone goes: that won't work here!
Sweden will be the only global example of a different approach so after this all ends it will be very interesting to see how it turned out.
The only thing mainstream media will write is: look at that country doing something crazy, they will regret it! So be it a dubious source or not (again; I didn't know)...it's interesting to keep track of what happens there.

a member of the spanish government has just said we should be able to get out on the streets again from 26th april onwards. of course with precautions and limits etc and no congregations, but it's a first step! I for one cannot bloody wait to go on a hike.

we'll get full details of those rules after easter I guess.

curious about the latest numbers coming out shortly, fingers crossed the decrease continues!

So Wuhan in China has now been "liberated" 11 weeks after the first lockdown. Tat sounds like it will be the template for everyone else, so in the UK that's 8 weeks to go. Yet that probably won't happen, numbers could rise again in Wuhan ensuring restrictions return and our release will be more gradual and prolonged, our government will dilly-dally no doubt.
And there are cabinet (the inner government) arguments regarding the treasury, who want to get the economy rolling ASAP, and the medical side, who naturally want us inside longer.

Agreed. Wuhan was a full on proper lock down, with every household receiving a food box. *no-one* was going out. Compare this to residents of the UK and I suspect this will roll on

ok so latest numbers for spain aren't the best. 6k new cases and 750 deaths. the new cases might also be because there's a lot more testing being done (it's clear there are lots more cases than reported and thus the numbers will rise as more and more testing is being done).

for balearics, 43 new cases, 5 more people have died, but the good news is 79 more people have been cured.

ibiza numbers to follow later.

i realy hope that this will soon happen for spain. were i live we can be happy that we are allowed to out jogging, hiking, cycling and even skateboarding on the streets. at the moment the italian goverment wants to keep it till pentecost.
yesterday on the news they said that in wuhan things are running normal again, guessing it took the chinese about three months, one can calculate when we here in europe getting out of it.....
