Cocoon @ PACHA discussion

But the night didn't truly get going in there until Mr. underrated Ilario Alicante jumped on at 04:30. By this point the tourists started to empty out and the brakes were removed. Masterclass of a set that veered from the likes of Fideles and Denis Horvat to Thomas Schumacher and Sergio Fernandez.

A big fan of Ilario as well, also pleased to see he got to play the closing set !

I caught his all night long at Elrow last September in the Club room at Amnesia. Highly recommend this year to anyone if you’re around for it.... I think he has two across the season. The crazy stuff is on the Terrace, and much better crowd in Club room.

This is a good sign for other dates... Sven to close tomorrow...

Sven’s Twitter:
...and tomorrow I am back at Pacha Ibiza with the Cocoon family! Here are the playtimes:

0.00 – 01.30 Dana Ruh

01.30 – 4.00 Richie Hawtin

4.00 – END myself :-)

Room2

0.00 – 3.00 Cesar Vinzent

3.00 – end Dana Ruh

I've not seen Sven since Destino (a whole fortnight! ). Hopefully following on from Richie will change the dynamic of his set

Anyone would think you were a bit svend-out @white_isle_calling

I’m not there personally, but I always enjoyed the idea of Sven warming up on these kind of occasions. Either way as @white_isle_calling said it will be interesting to see if his set is different following on from Richie.

I get you, and some of the guests are great, but selfishly the 3+ times I will probably go to Cocoon this season, I just want full-on peak-time Sven Väth!

Yeah, I feel the same. This way around it means I have to tolerate Richie regardless of which Richie turns up.
What I fear the most is that my mates who are visiting wanting to leave after Richie. At least with him playing last I could've guaranteed seeing all of Sven. But oh well, I glad things are getting mixed up

Interesting. I am just kind of intrigued what pull Richie has these days. It is not an anti Hawtin comment, just intrigued to know if he can still pack them in when up against Paradise opening. I think he has only played Pacha once before (so is always a bit more intrigue factor). If Cocoon/Pacha do manage to pack them in tomorrow, with it being mid-June and up against Paradise - then they really have nailed this..

I really do not understand the pull for Richie Hawtin these days. 9/10 sets of his i hear from the last six years are the most boring, monotonous techno known to man!

i might try sven @ pacha but ill never go there for richie although he is my number 1.

same thing goes for ben klock which ill never attend him at pacha.

these guys need big dark stages for any one to hear the best out of them.

I have to say I think Pacha is a great venue for this sort of music. As far as Ibiza clubs go, I find it quite intimate and with their current soundsystem and lighting it can be nicely intense for techno music!

I did feel the same as you before but seeing Sven there a few weeks ago has changed my mind entirely.

With that mentality, surely you are limited your experience of your favourite artists?? Any great performer should adapt his or her performance to their environment, no? One of the great things about Ibiza's nightlife in general, is that you're getting an experience you don't get at home/elsewhere.

Using that same reasoning, does that mean you wouldn't go to see Hawtin or Klock at an outdoor festival? o_O

Dark, cavernous warehouse spaces are great. But you can find them in most western cities. Stick one in Ibiza? Not for me I'm afraid.

it depends if i want to get high that night or not.

if yes then for sure i will be very selective, if not then ill just go out & enjoy the night with my friends.

its not just the "dark" warehouses. ben klock played at time warp this year, and honestly his set was 50/50 not as if he were playing at printworks @ londong or photon @ awakenings.

Have any of the Cocoon Pacha sets been recorded this season yet? Looking on SoundCloud and the like and can’t find anything. Any idea @stivi or @white_isle_calling ?

hmm not sure. I haven't seen anything.

pretty curious to see how tonight goes in terms of numbers - it's paradise opening tonight so there is some real competition around now.

if any forumer goes, in room two, from 12 to 3 it is my friend cesar playing. I shall be there for most of his set I guess - come say hi.

ok so live report from pacha. absolutely busy enough, dancefloor actually perfectly busy right now, but as I had expected, due to paradise opening, there is a little more space everywhere tonight.

richie is penetrating the main room sound system with banging techno - full on techno onslaught and better, less plinky-plonky as he often plays. not in the mood for such hard stuff right now, but if I were having a big night out tonight I might enjoy it.

also, not sure if they dimmed the lights, but tonight pacha seems less white and generally a little darker.
