Cocoon 2015

"...
Can you remember when you first visited the island? What was your experience like? Where did you go, who did you see playing etc etc… what was Ibiza like in those days?

Luckily my parents brought me to Ibiza in 1988 and 1989… I was 13 years old…too young for the clubs…but I felt the vibe everywhere. Space had no walls around… I could see the party people walking in and dancing on the tables at 9 am while I had to go to breakfast at club Playa den Bossa (now Ushuaia)…I swore to myself, one day I would come back and then no one could stop me.

Hey do u know if this is just a one time thing or every week?

I think a one off, and maybe a few more this season.

Cocoon make afters the most times, sometimes only with invitation and sometimes open to public.

I saw a few pics looked very cool, hope for a return to no Name for my dates too!

I didn't go to the afters yesterday, but apparently it wasn't THAT great.

cocoon on monday night was superb on the other hand. again a proper techno set by daddy sven and then went over to the terrace for villalobos. it seems he definitely found his bearings again, he played a fantastic set! honestly.

Everyone is raving about Villalobos this season. Seems he's basically less trashed..... and thus back on form!

100% agree. cocoon was amazing, moonear reeeaally surprised me and the best ricardo I ever heard!
I was at the after at around 9 for a bit but really boring music by paic and moonear so I left again.

Where was the afters? Villalobos looked like he took less shrooms than usual so he was alright. I enjoyed Cocoon as well, and it was really cool seeing Nina Kraviz, Villalobs, Zip, Sonja, and Dyed Soundorom all chilling in the DJ box. Amnesia has to be the best club on the island, I think it's better than Space to be honest. Going for my final night tonight for Hyte madness.

Knowing the way people feel about Sven around here I am sure people will disagree but I think its worth saying anyway and was more curious if anyone else was there and would weigh in with their own thoughts... I thought the set that Sven played this past Monday at Cocoon was terrible. I didnt enjoy the warmup at all and decided to skip out to main room for Josh Wink who was absolutely phenomenal (I've seen him several times in the states and he is just absolute tops) then quickly after jumped back to the terrace until Richie Hawtin appeared and I could just never get into what he was playing. I've seen Sven at least 5/6 times now and definitely seen some really stellar sets, but wanted to see what others thought because I am wondering if it was an off night or if his style is just not doing it for me these days

interesting, I liked his set lots. it was a lot more mellow this monday though than the last few weeks, maybe that's why you didn't dig it?

I certainly appreciate the mellow stuff and that was of course expected for the early warmup hours, but maybe i just wasn't feeling it then, not sure. And after what Josh Wink did in that main room from I think 2 - 430, I dont really know what I could have listened to in order to follow it up. It was the best set i heard on the island this week and there wasnt anything even close.

I did have a good time last Monday,
but I have to say that it didn't meet up with the expectations I had,
both from a musical perspective as well as the vibe at the party.

Big tonight…think I'd be getting down there early! Only question would be where to start….think Roman Flugel just about wins! Enjoy!

I miss Amnesia, especially Cocoon. Despite it's name, I won't forget it. All the crowd expectations that you said Stivi were spot on, and it really was perfectly busy in June. You could move a bit to the middle and back and have lots of room to dance, even at the sides. It was cool seeing the graphics guy on the computer flashing up images as well and seeing him work but security got antsy wanted some of us to move away and stop watching him work haha. It must be total madness now and in August... ! I just wished it went on until 9 AM or so, 7:30 AM seems a bit early in rave time lol.

How was Art Department? He's from my home city and him and Kenny Glasgow are great producers but I didn't like what they played in early 2014. Just felt it was go nowhere tech nonsense...

I agree. Their last album together was really bad by their own standards. Jonny White's fabric mix a few months ago was a vast improvement though.

Sceptical why he would chose to carry on with the Art Department name alone, but there you go. Truth be told they'd be touring separately for months before they announced their split. Though i guess lots of producer duos do.
