Cocoon 2015

So I'm planning to do cocoon for the first time this year (its always been something that I wanted to experience but either the people I was with didn't, or there was another night, or something else came up) and it's going to be Richie Hawtin and Sven on August 24. This is a question to the cocoon regulars - what type of sets should I be expecting. Saw Richie and Luciano a few years back at Ushuaia and to be completely honest while as a whole we enjoyed the night we enjoyed Richie less than Luciano. I've watched a couple of the cocoon videos but i just wanted to get people's views of what to expect. also, never been to Enter... many thanks

Expext to hear a mixture of techno, tech house and deep house. Not many vocals, no EDM.

agreed. loved it when she used to play dc10 (2005-2008 ca), then hadn't seen her for a long time and then finally caught her again in panoramabar last winter. she's brilliant!

I've got a genuine dilemma, just noticed Chicane are playing Eden same Monday as Mind Against are playing Cocoon. I think seeing Chicane in Ibiza would be an unbelievable experience

I hear you on the Chicane dilemma. Cocoon/Eden will mark the latter half of my trip and by then I'll have heard enough tech inspired music that the trance in the main room or prog stuff in the side room would really sound good. Plus Eden is a stones throw away from my hotel. But I wanna check out Ricardo that night and Cocoon is legendary. I wish the Eden thing was on a Thursday

I am presuming they would chuck all their classics in the set as thats what i would be going for, agree with wishing it was on a Thursday instead! Never been to Eden before either mind...

Keep looking at Cocoon lineups for the summer and feelin like its looking better than ever, for me top dates include August 3 with Sven/Dixon and Ben Klock main room, August 17 Sven/Koze and Adam Beyer/Carl Craig main room, and lastly September 14 with Sven/Ame in main room and Adam beyer closing out the terrace. Really looking forward to the end of June for my first visit this summer!

It does. I genuinely want all three of these nights to succeed. I just think HYTE could struggle mid week early in season. But I may be underestimating the pull of Dice and Maceo. Also.... Maybe Amnesia have pulled a master stroke and it will be the likes of Enter and other tech/techno nights that suffer.... Amnesia is the one club I think people would be up for going twice in a week if they are on short holiday...

Its always nice for nights to succeed especially when good techno is involved but I tend to agree with the thought train that Hyte will have some trouble. I may be underestimating as well, but I just dont see them being a big draw and while lineups are always something to consider I think Paradise throws a proper party and really does pull some nice lineups. Throw We Love at Sankeys into the mix with lineups still not released yet we have some ideas based on rumors and such, I think Hyte may have some trouble. I think people are loyal to Cocoon and rightfully so as i feel that way only being involved for the last 3 years and Music On has become more global than ever and Marco Carola is a household name. I like the idea of Hyte, but I am just not sure how it is going to work. Im interested to their July lineups as I'll be around July 1 but with Ame, the martinez Bros, Maya, and Jamie Jones himself at the opening for Paradise, not sure i could pass that up either way.

Yeah that opening for DC-10 is solid. Like I'm there in June so Hyte is only competing with We Love Sankey's. I'm really hoping Sasha isn't doing We Love on June 24th, cuz I love Maceo Plex, and is instead doing the opening the week before which I'll be there for as well or just not coming at all LOL. I can't miss Sasha anywhere in Ibiza!
But in July, things definitely get more rough with Paradise so Hyte could struggle, or shit maybe all three might? One of them should move to Thurs or Friday...There's only Enter on Thurs for tech stuff and Music On on Friday. Or even Saturday, which looks wide open, unless i'm missing something.

Saturdays are usually a no-go because of dj's having international club and festival commitments around the globe, easier to book the bigger names during the week.

Agree to a certain extent, though I think there are a lot more DJs on the island than a few years back, when Saturday was almost a night off in Ibiza as they were all playing elsewhere. If you do the ANTS and then across the road to Space for Elrow/Kehakuma - you can get 5-10 pretty solid/international DJs some nights!

Really? Hmmm. Never actually seen Richie in the Main Room, always the Terrace. Assume we are in for a harder set from Mr Hawtin then...
Without boring everyone else - what is the capacity of each room?

Overall capacity is 5,000 and I believe 3,000 on the Terrace.
