I'll maybe explain the dc10 backstage a bit so those who never made it get the picture.

firstly, you don't get ANY of the music in the backstage. that's the biggest drawback and the reason I never really spend much time there. because you're really removed from the party. it's great for toilet breaks and bar rounds - both goes much much quicker as there are no queues. this is one of the reasons the backstage is so popular. the other reason is because it's turned into a complete meeting hub of the industry, mixed with celebrities. on 2am on monday night it's got an incredible amount of very well known faces per square meter in that backstage area and yeah, for some people, this is of course very attractive.

whenever I go to dc10 I try to spend as little time as much in the backstage, but working in the industry it does happen that I get caught up in there chatting to people.

personally, I think that sadly the backstage is a bit responsible for the fact the vibe in dc10 isn't as great as it used to be. back in the day everyone was on the dancefloor, now the 'cool' people mostly aren't.
 
Yep, completely agree with Stivi.

We got it as I knew someone who was playing (and another DJ) but only really used it early doors for chilling out and then to avoid the queue for the loo & bar. However, by midnight, it was even so rammed backstage that there was a queue everywhere with folk pushing past. Even The Black Madonna got her drinks from the main room, as it was less busy!

Personally, the best places to be is always up at the front by the DJ booths. We were surrounded by TV stars & supermodels there this trip!

Got to agree re being at the front by the dj booths, worked well for us on both visits this year. Think we spent about 4hrs solid in the main room on our 2nd visit...................raving on :D.

We were there back at end of june / start of july, had no problem getting served at any of the bars. For making our way through the crowd we stuck to the edges / perimeter walls of the terrace, main room was a breeze on our visit.
 
Is it just me who couldn't care less who is on the same dancefloor as me?! I am there to listen to music, dance and lose myself from everyday life for that moment, no celeb spotting, no mobile phone/silly selfies etc... total escapism.

Agreed, big line up.

Shame you get a load of sheep commenting 'disappointed' etc, just because Jackmaster / Martinez Brothers etc aren't there.

Noticed Butch was there this week, but main room. Would like to see him in the Garden at some point
