as i said on here after the first game, two weeks ago chelsea got a well deserved reality check.

who 'deserved' to win. erm, the team that scored the most goals!!!

i have no special love for chelsea but their performance last night was superb.

Barca: they don't like it up 'um

I think Etoo is one at the nicest players I ever seen,

He should have been booked for his dive. I can't believe his comments about it.

See, when Mourinho didn't talk to the press everybody insisted on lets see his real motivations cos it's not a normal behaviour on him.
Why not the same attitude with Eto'o? :?

Do you follow the spanish league?
Do you know it's one of the nicest and most polite football players in Spain?
Have you read the three comments of spanish supporters (including a supporter from Real Madrid) saying it's not a normal attitude?

Of course, nothing wrong with the sillines of Mourinho in the first league

nobody likes to lose, its the same with both the Chelsea and Barca players, and with Arsenal when they lost their unbeaten record, they forgot how to lose and couldn't cope with it.

The Barca players should just shut up and get on with things

As Sir Bobby Robson said "Mourinho learnt more in the last few weeks than what he did in the previous 8 months" and it was true, look what happened, he came back and beat the team who are supposed to be the best in the world

Barcalona have just got to face the fact that they lost, they are out, and they must not foget its not as if they aren't gonna be back next season, they are gonna win La Liga

quite the opposite - it'll be good to talk football !
Flav and Bruce aren't really football fans (rightly or wrongly, i've always thought that any bloke who isn't into football was deprived of something during their childhood, and probably bullied at school !!! :D )
This despite the fact that Flav's dad played for Hibernian for 10 years !

Bruce? Is he related to "Chris" who was at DC10 with us Stu?

Btw, you can be 'into football' without needing the tribal belonging of an allegiance to a group of millionaires who, despite already having more money than they can possibily find use for, will betray your fervent support for a pay increase at the drop of a hat. Agreed, however, that if they didn't see the excitement in a match with the levels of both skill and determination of last night's they obviously suffered one 'wedgie'* too many in their formative years.

And you can tell 'Chris' I said that!

*Note for readers in the land of men in skirts: no reference to 'Glasgae' is intended here

My brother always says Football is the poor' game cos it's the only option to see 22 rich men sweating and suffering ;)

Hey peeps! I'm back from a wild whirlwind trip to London for one of the best games of football I have ever seen. I can't even remember a better game right now! What fabulous play from both sides! Chelsea's counter-attacks were magnificent. Ronaldinho's second goal was a piece of art. The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge was totally electric! and most importantly...

CHELSEA WON, FAIR & SQUARE! :D :D :D

I was jumping out of my seat through the whole game. I think I screamed on behalf of the whole west upper stand!

Regarding a couple of points in your posts from yesterday:
- No, Eto'o was not taunted with a racist comment (the steward said something like "the pitch is manque (i.e. poor) today, did it make it harder to play?"
- the Barcelona fans were reprehensible. When Abramovich made his traditional walk across the pitch to the changing rooms after the game, they hurled insults and threw bottles at him.
- the stadium stewards were a little bit vigilante - they wouldn't let Ronaldinho go up to the Barca fans because they were afraid people would get too excited. A Chelsea assistant coach also got a little too excited and taunted Rijkard a bit. Together, this nearly started a melee.
- the Barca players said some pretty stupid stuff after the game. Mourinho might have reacted poorly after the first leg, but they were equally lame. (what did Eto'o say? Something about planning on quitting the game soon?!)
- replays show that the alleged foul by Carvalho happened after the ball crossed into the goal. Maybe Collina could see that better than us, since he was a lot closer than the linesman.

The controversy after this game was so contrived, because for once it was a fair game where the officiating did not influence the outcome (unlike the first game). Eto'o and Joe Cole both did some diving, and neither got much out of it, so I think it was even on that score.

I think Chelsea played to their stregnths. Compared to Barca, it is a better defensive team and so they defended and struck (3 times!) on the counterattack. Barca is a better offensive team and tried to control the ball and attack. In the end, Chelsea played better overall... and won!

OK... getting down from my soap box now, but WOW what a game! Peter Cech, John Terry, Makalele... hell, the whole team played so well. :D

And people saying I wasn't objective 8O

Morbyd,

Where you there when the "mele" with stewards and barça people?

I think I was on my way to the Bridge Bar for a celebratory drink!

Andre Villas, Mourniho's assistant, was way out of line with his taunting. But Frank "the spitter" Rijkaard shouldn't have tried to go after him either.

The mele also wasn't all Barca people. Just Frank and Ronaldinho mostly, because they wouldn't go down the tunnel when the stewards asked them to! The visiting fans certainly didn't need to get more excited - they were already throwing things at Mourinho, Abramovich, etc, so on that side I can see what the stewards were trying to do.

Anyway, good game of football, no matter which side you are on :D

Yes, I was there! In the West Upper Stand. I was probably paying more attention to the Chelsea players celebrating on the pitch than to the bottlethrowers and the steward-Ronaldinho pushing and shoving, but I heard it all first hand from people who were in the middle of it later on.
