Chelsea vs Barcelona

And now the program about referees is on which will hopefuly shed some light on certain "issues"

Good game - good result. Happy :D

Au Contrare

It was at Highbury in August 87, he went to take a corner at which point some of the away fans (Liverpool) threw a number of bananas onto the pitch, in some kind of badly judged welcome to Liverpool gesture, I know a gooner who was there and remembers it well, also Nick Hornby also mentions it in "Fever Pitch"

what utter bull**** a friend of a friend's nan's mam's gran's auntie's cat's second removed cousin told me! I've read fever pitch and there is absolutely no mention of such incident! And 'digger' barnes was an absolute legend for Liverpool so say his own fans would racistly abuse him is offensive

Ah, that... yes, that was bad news... I still don't think anyone's figured out who made these threats to Frisk (and was it a Chelsea fan or a bookee?!). But at least it wasn't a whole mob!

On more important issues, Sil.. how do you do that little squiggly thing under the "c"?

A whole mob 8O Less than 200 over a social mass than is around 150.000 I wouldn't call mob    ;)
That little thing under my c comes with my keyboard, it's a catalan letter and it sound like an s

MOURINHO VETE AL TEATRO

I don't particulary like Mourhino, all this shows he keeps doing but es la pera: vamos a hacerr lo q el Barça hizo l'año pasadoooo, ellosss miraronn cuartos de finalll desdeeee la telee ahoraaaa este añoooooo nosotrosss vamosss a hacer lo mismooo. Así el el futboooll"":lol::lol::lol:

mourinho admitted (to UEFA) that he lied (in a portuguese magazine) about the frisk/rijkaard incident last year after saying he saw them together in the ref's room. scumbag!!!

last night he reminded me of a dictator surrounded by 'yes men' too scared to have a word with him about his attitude or challenge his authority or offer controversial advice, that is not healthy if you are a chelsea fan.

especially toward the end of the game when the tie was lost, the images of the chelsea backroom staff laughing and putting on false smiles to jose's quips and gestures, was like a group of defeated bullies to scared to show they had lost.

"i love the club" etc... then leaving for the arch rivals once into his final year of his contract kinda makes any verbal abuse warrented.

Really? Homophobia, racism?

I can never say I agreed with any of that for Campbell, though I wholeheartedly expected it, and so should he have.

I'll sum it up by saying I wouldn't do what he did if I had a family and kids iyswim.

Of course, that's not saying it's right though.

btw. last nights game was only worth watching ronaldiho play.

lets hope chelsea decide to play like that come sat. 15 yrs of losing in the league has to end sooner than later.

That's not true. Deco was huge, Marquez was huge. Edmilson delayed a bit too much the ball in dangerous areas but was huge aswell. Eto'o was too controled by Chelsea tho.

Leaving all the rubbish surrounding this game aside, I want to talk about the actual football.

I thought Barca learnt there lesson from last year very well. It was probably our most defensive home display of the season, and we realised that sometimes you cant simply use the all-out-attack idea.

What do the Chelsea fans make of Mourinhos tactics last night? I personally think he got it very wrong, or his players didnt listen to what he asked them to do. Lampard rarely got into our half. Where were his runs from midfield?? Why were Chelsea so scared to send men forward? even if we scored one, they still had to score two.
Why not risk it with Drogba and Crespo at the same time?? What did they have to lose??!

I think Chelsea went out rather tamely yesterday... having said that it was Ronnie that made the big difference again.8)

They definitely went out with a wimper... they needed to get joe cole in the game but he rarely got a kick, lampard was anonymous as were most of them but barca just controlled the game. Like you said they seemed scared to concede at the cost of actually trying to score themselves.

I can't see anyone stopping Barca this year

And why substitute Joe Cole for Robert Huth?!? A bad move IMO, Cole had probably made most of an impact the whole game, Huth is terrible as a defender, and even worse up front! I dont know why Mourinho didnt go out the whole hog in the last 20mins and stick all his strikers on!

best thing to come out of the game was seeing all the west ham flags at the end - I think 2 got spotted:)

west ham websites have been talking about it and it turns out Barcelona have a following for the hammers. Anyone else know this?

Anyway back to the game, I think Chelsea played great in the 1st leg, but did not have a proper go yesterday, and for a team for so much money it is quite desperate bringing on a centre back and putting him up front for the last 10 minutes.. I'd like to have seen them progress, plus I had money on Chelsea winning

I think in Spain they called it "hermandad" or something.. its when two sets of fans from different countries decide to follow eachothers teams. I think Barcelona is also linked with Inter Milan (or Lazio not sure) .. I know Villareal have it with Celtic fans.

Maybe Barcelona have it with the West Ham fans too.. Well Lynch, thats another reason for you to like Barcelona!! ;)
