Chelsea vs Barcelona

Please can I have a brief synopsis about tonight's game so I can at least pretend I know what I'm talking about?

Why is Jose Mourinho leaving his hotel before the rest of the players when Chelsea clearly have the worst reputation?!?!

Me = completely clueless.

Who is likely to win?...why? and who are the players to look out for?

One step behind as usual but I'll get there eventually. ;)

First step is to change the title of the post, it's BARÇA vs CHELSEA tonight (the one who plays at home goes first) ;)

MOurinho is doing all his best to distract attention, he prefers media talking about him than talking about the game.

Reijkaard asked Barça supporters to welcome MOurinho with a warm clapping hans. Reijkaard is cool 8)

tonight is an opportunity for chelesa to show that they aren't just a bunch of boring, methodical dudnerheads and that Mourinho can play them in anything other than a prosaic fashion.

fat chance.

barca have style, imagination and class. the hammerhead style of chelsea may work in the premier league but appears to have been found out when playing in europe (pace Liv 05)

IF chelsea can play with even a modicum of style and verve tonight they have a small chance but it does seem unlikely they will change their outlook too much, although it does appears that both drogba and crespo will start tonight.

for da blues it really is $hit or bust

I wouldn't piss on a chelsea players teeth if they were on fire.

barca to win

I'm guessing this is the general feeling but to give me a more balanced idea - what is the view of a die hard Chelsea fan?

i don't understand why they're playing each other again :? didn't they just play last week? is this some other league? I don't even know why I read the football threads, I really don't.

I think BBS is having lunch in a sunny terrace down the beach at the moment 8)

the objective view is that chelsea are up against it playing against arguably the best club side in the world. however, chelsea are also arguably one of the best club sides in the world.

chelsea need to win by 2 goals, which is possible, but Barça nearly always score so herein lies their problem. Also as russ says, they have sometimes been found wanting in some games against the very best opposition.

i had a dream last night that chelsea did it in style (won 4-1) and of course there was a controversial refereeing/penalty incident to boot.

players to watch -
Barça - Messi, Eto'o and Ronaldinho is the best forward line in the world (bar none)
Chelsea - Terry is a giant amongst some weaker defenders, Robben has match winning qualities, SWP should play every week

Prediction - don't care as long as los azulgrana go through:D

I love objective views like those.
Come on Barca!!!!!! 8)

will prob see more diving, cheating and rolling around tonight than a game of football. whole thing has been turned into something more than a football match, and the behaviour of the so called "fans" at the airport was disgusting.

I suppose this is aimed to the blues one who sent Reina off weeks before, isn't it?

I agree. That overstepped the mark a lot
However, I wouldnt go as far as having to applaud the chelsea team as Rijkaard says ;)

Chewie, lets not get round to the behaviour of the Tottenham fans when Campbell went back to White Hart Lane.. every club has got a few idiots for fans!
