In this case, it matters a lot how early you make the reservation. I have used Motoluis' services for years and I have always been very satisfied
Always compare prices with Autos Mari (another good local car hire company). Sometimes it is almost 2x cheaper than Moto Luis (and sometimes Moto Luis is much cheaper). The mode of operation is exactly the same - uncomplicated car hire in the airport parking lot, no counter in the terminal.
 
Tried booking with Autos Mari for this weekend - the website said the booking needs to be made 48 hours in advance :(. Phoned their hotline and got a reservation for the desired time with no hassles (they had all my data from a previous rental, we joked that it is the same car and I am even coming on the same flight as the last time 🤣).

This will be I think my 6th rental with them, every time it was a great experience. No hidden fees, no stress registering all tiny scratches on the car, no queues (they meet you on the parking lot). The airport delivery fee went up to 15€ (used to be 10€), but the pricing is still very competitive.

you gotta play by the rules, a bit like Ryanair. Photograph absolutely everything start and finish of rental.
Get your own excess insurance too, not theirs.
I've been using Gold Car quite alot over the past winter. Definately follow the advice of taking photographs and showing the employees in the car park before you leave - they will stamp your document.

Every time time I've rented a car from them the damage shown on the paper work doesn't match up with the car itself.

I got a quote from Autos Mari / a week was €200+ compared to Gold Car €90.

Gold Car has a bad reputation, as they sometimes use tricks to extract more money from customers, like hidden damage they charge each customer for. Another thing I read about was their station being out of cars, but you could pay extra for a "premium queue" to have a better chance of getting a car soon. It doesn't happen to each customer, but it does happen now and then.

If you are willing to take the risk (or know how to beat them at their own game) you'll usually get a better deal with Gold Car than with anyone else. For me personally, it's not worth the risk, I stick with reputable car rental companies. I like Autos Mari precisely because I don't have to worry about being screwed over by them.
 
There are some crazy prices being offered through Ryanair at the moment. €125 for two weeks in July from a couple of suppliers.

Sunny cars full assurance : 357 Euro from Sep12 to Sep 25. Via K10. Walking distance from terminal. Never probs with sunny cars. For me : Better to pay 100 more than trouble.

We got here yesterday - on arrival went to the Gold Car desk and had the please of meeting a guy called Christof and his female colleague who were both delighted when I didn’t have a valid credit card in my name (mine is Amex and they wouldn’t accept my wife because she wasn’t the main driver.) this meant I couldn’t put down the deposit for the car. After an hour of trying to sort something out - including signing up for a credit card with Monza, to be told it has to be a physical card I had to pay the premium insurance.

Just goes to show - no matter how much you think you know a sting is just around the corner.

There you go! I should have listened. 😭

I’m sure it was written down somewhere and everything the guy said was policy but they were basically taking the piss out of me, passing notes between themselves why I asked if there was anything they could do to accept my wife’s credit card.
There is no point for them to accept your wife's credit card when they already have you on the hook for that extra insurance. It's their business model.

Anyway, just write it off as a lost gamble and enjoy the holiday!

I chose the key n go option for next week with Gold Car - will report back with my experience. They claim no paperwork, and that I can just pick the keys up and drive away. We'll see. This Key n Go option was cheaper than other options recommended in this thread.

They claim that it's comprehensively insured with zero excess and no deposit. Fingers crossed I dont get screwed over!
 
Key and go option (includes full insurance) with Gold car is fairly seamless - basically, if you but their expensive insurance, they leave you alone lol
 
Has anyone use Record & Go recently?
Yes, we used it now like 6 times and had alway good expirience, but we use only with JustGo Option, no deposit required total insurance included. They need just Fuel Deposit and they are also very cheep
 
We went with Hertz this time, only 10 minutes waiting and the three desk agents were all working on customers and very friendly. Also car is new and in great condition.
Was not even more expensive . And the car was available in the car parking just at the airport, so quite happy so far. :)
