Typical response from the Police. Likely most of those arrested probably had very little if anything at all on them. They had to release something to look like they are doing something.
Still beats me how people are stupid enough to brazen it out through the 1st high profile response to an incident like that with drugs on 'em. If that isn't asking to be caught and arrested, I don't know what is. If you're gonna go in with them, at least wait a few weeks !
A man is in a coma in hospital after taking suspected ecstasy at the nightclub where schoolgirl Regane MacColl took a "Mortal Kombat" pill and later died.
The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital in Glasgow just before midnight on Saturday after taking ill in the queue of The Arches in the city centre.
A police spokeswoman said the man is thought to have taken the illegal drugs while waiting to get into the premises but was searched by door staff who discovered the substance.
He is currently in a serious but stable condition at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
In February, 17-year-old schoolgirl Ms MacColl, from Clydebank, collapsed and later died after taking a rogue ecstasy pill.
The club introduced an over-21 age policy after the incident which happened on February 1.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 11.55pm on Saturday March 29, police were called to a report of a man taken ill after taking illegal drugs while being searched in the queue for the Arches nightclub.
"The 39-year-old was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is in a serious but stable condition."
Slam's night Pressure already reviewing if they will resume parties there after the usual summer break
and now the Love Action easter weekender has moved to SWG3 in order to be over 18s
Arches will surely not be open long if this continues
I guess the reasoning is that older clubbers are more wised up about their limits - not that toxins discriminate on age. Admittedly I only went the once but I disliked the arches - the atmosphere felt sterile, the music was the soulless end of techno (adam beyer or hawtin i think? yawn) and the sound was pretty distorted. Not a venue for audiophiles.
been the same since they stopped *inside out#Hasn't been the same since they stopped the Burly nights
Arches back to over 18s
bottle crashed at the nights being relocated recently methinks
It's official.

So this makes a lot of f***ing sense Police Scotland! Well done I hope your happy now?
Is this a bid to stop people taking drugs?
Will it work? No it wont, and they know it!
This is typical policing through media. It makes no sense to close the safest venue in the city where every cooperation and supervision are the Arches staffs top priority. The outcome of this will be not only be job losses and a loss of revenue to city. It will leave a great big gaping hole in Glasgow culturally. The Arches was one of Scotland's biggest cultural hubs and without the club events I would imagine that they may have to close completely! The decision to close the Arches will send out a bigger message far and wide. A message that gives Glasgow a bad name as a cant do city with a presbyterian hangover!
Its ok for people to knife each other and cause public harm and disruption at football matches which are far more dangerous than going to any nightclub, but will they stop that? No they wont! This decision will only force things underground it will only force people to go to unsupervised venues which are potentially far more harmful.Clubbing is now a world wide phenomenon and has been for 25 years so closing nightclubs is definently not the best solution! Not even in the crazy days of Acid House were things this bad. Which begs the question who is next for the chop? If they can close one club they can close another then another!
Police state and five more years of Tory rule.Sad times((((
