25Y Cocoon Ibiza: Memories

Out of 24 hours hibernation! My heart is full. I also don't think the music was as good as it could've been outside, but the atmosphere and bumping into old faces in the crowd compensated for it imo. There were still some great moments with Quiet Distortion being the one for me.

Then inside I felt like it got a lot better. I wasn't sure how things would work in Teatro, but it felt so fresh being a new space and there was plenty of room if you wanted it - and kudos that they stopped selling after party upgrades even though they could have put a few more hundred people in there.

Walking out of the venue wonky, down the hill and back to a finca in Sa Serra to carry on until the sun came up, well, it truly felt like old times to me but unfortunately I had my "holiday hat" on and now reality is cashing its cheque

As for the future of Cocoon on Ibiza, well, I was privi to an interesting convo, so let's see what Ibiza 2025 brings

Long time since I posted, but…. landing late Thursday and no tkt for Akasha. Anyone know if they’ve been doing ‘official’ or otherwise afters following these parties pls ?

Cocoon was such a game-changer for me, as I'm sure it was for many people - and the island of Ibiza itself.

I'd known of Sven since the 90's, I had an album by him and listened to some mixes of his, so knew of him long before I stumbled into Cocoon at Amnesia in 2004.

Before this point, I was going to see DJs like Pete Tong, Erick Morillo (yuck), Paul Van Dyk - but I did also like techno, and always had done. Yet stepping into Cocoon was another world - gone were my fellow Brits and the obvious build-it-up highs and lows, in was a cosmopolitan crowd (that I really didn't suit at the time), and music that was really groovy.

From then I was pretty much obsessed with Cocoon - I'd also discovered minimal techno that same night with Steve Bug playing in the terrace, and my musical life was changed.

The music just had this novelty to it, this sexiness - it was techno but it was slower, it wasn't just 99% blokes. There was drama in the music, and Cocoon in Ibiza was just theatre itself - from the DJs, the music, but also the dancers, the decor and the crowd. It was just something else. Oh the dancers!

Life has never been better than now for me, yet I still reminisce of that era, I'm still sat here now nearly 20 years later searching for ways to interact with that little piece of clubbing history. Still watching the very few videos that exist, still pining for those nights.

Cocoon Ibiza 2004

There's a bit of me that is tempted to book a flight for Cocoon 2025 in a couple of weeks, but also 10pm is bedtime nowadays.

I was maybe a wee bit later to cocoon than others as first went to ibiza in 2007 but had so many good nights at it. One night that stands out for me was 2010. Went in september for 3 nights with my mate just the 2 of us. Flight at 11 am on tuesday morning back to glasgow but off to cocoon on the Monday night planning on leaving about 4am to be sensible but Villalobos and loco dice tore the terrace apart. One of the best nights of my life! Ended up dancing on the terrace podiums, the lot. Stayed til the death and was straight to hotel for bags then airport in absolute shreds debating the point of life and why we had to leave the best place in the world. In such a downer for days after getting home but once that wore off i realised how such a special night it was. Im currently just in from the optimo erol alkan and the blessed madonna day at queens parks spring weekend so a bit happy shall we say but was reading this post felt the need to share haha. Dont often message on the forum but just the cocoon chat got me reminiscing haha. Probably wake up with the fear but fck it haha. Back to the island on may 31st :)

My first time at cocoon was 2009 and I recall spending most of the night in the main room to a much lesser known marco carola. The robot guy with the lazer arms was there (anyone remember that?)

My best night at cocoon was probably 2011
Had a slightly underwhelming time in 2016,

Cocoon at pacha just wasn’t the same but the afters at km5 was amazing!

The closing at amnesia and then benimussa was amazing both outdoors but particularly indoors (was it 2019?) was particularly good.

Cocoon always had the best vibe and most of my trips the last 20years (😵) revolved around it.

Back in 2012, when my friends & i just started getting more into techno music and visiting Ibiza,

my friend went to Cocoon by himself and he came back telling me man you have to join me next week, there is this DJ called Sven Vath, and my friend was so high -- the good confident high, you know if you know.

i was like man impossible you are so high like this, but i was like lets try.

so i went with him the next week.

In Amnesia i like to stand at back, mainly beside the big rock at the end of the terrace floor, and Guys,

i was so high.

and the journey with Sven Vath and cocoon started since then.
