Hello all gurus of Ibiza!
I wonder if any of you can help!
I'm thinking of going to Ibiza for a few days (2nd to 7th May) it will be my first trip/holiday on my own as all my mates are either settled down or tied up with work. Because of this I haven't had a holiday for a good number of years (5+) so I thought "sod it" and decided to go away on my own this year. It will also be my first time going to Ibiza as well. It's a place I've always wanted to go and see, especially hearing about the sunsets from Cafe Del Mar and Mambo.
My main reason for going was to just have a week away and relax at a hotel with a pool but I thought while I'm there I may as well take advantage of what's on offer! I probably be staying B&B or half board which would give me the opportunity to have a few meals out most nights. I'd also like to frequent the bars most nights.
Main type of music I'm into would be Dance/Trance and a bit of EDM. My favourite DJ's are Above & Beyond or pretty much anything on the Anjunabeats label (not use if that helps what type of music I like or not!) Is there anywhere that plays music like this in Ibiza?
I've been doing alot of searching and research online over the past 2 days, and it's really torn my opinion on where to go and if it's worth going to Ibiza at all at this time of year. So I'm hoping to ask you fellow residents and regular visitors on what's best! This is what I've found out so far, albeit right or wrong:
San Antonio (San An):
This was the place I was originally going to go, mainly for the sunsets and relaxing days. I did a bit of research and it seems that Cafe Mambo isn't open until a few weeks later. I believe Cafe Del Mar will be open and also Mambo's sister bar called Mint Lounge(?) is already open, but I think this is fairly new so unsure what it's like.
A few places mention that San An is the place were all the youngsters go, so it'll be mostly 17-19 year olds. Although I don't mind this, I don't want to seem "out of place" being the strange overweight 34 year old on his own around teenagers! (I can remember when I used to go out as a teenagers and there were a few single people sitting on their own at the bar and such).
I also believe that San An has only a few clubs (Es Paradis & Gatecrasher/Eden), although I'm not going for a clubbing holiday, it would be good to see these and maybe go one night just to experience what it's like but I'm not sure if these will even be open in the first week of May? Looking at the event calendars on-line, hardly anywhere is open and they all start opening nearer the end of May (I've thought about moving my holiday then, but the cost triples!)
Playa d'en Bossa:
On a few forums this was suggested as an alternative, as it was geared to more 20-25+ people and the more "mature" clubber. Obviously going here to miss out on the sunsets with it being on the other side of the island. PDB seems to have alot more clubs (Ashuaia, Space etc), but again, almost all of them are shut but Pacha seems to be open with events called "Pacha Nights" which seem very nondescript so not sure what these will be like and if it will be cheap/expensive or if anyone will be in or it'll be an empty club (kind of a mood killer when in Ibiza!)
Looking at the Bossa coast, the beaches seem to be better here than San an, and there seems to be a nice bar on the front called Delano Beach Club (but I think the name may have changed now?) which seems to be open day and night. Bora Bora also seems good but this doesn't open until the end of May.
From here I could also take public transport up to San An to see the sunset one day, I've had a look at the Ibiza bus website and I can't see any direct buses that go there, only the Discobus, but again, this doesn't start until the 30th of June according to their site!
Is any of the information I've found above true? would anyone recommend I stay in one place over the other? is there anything I'm missing that may sway my decision?
I'm hoping to get this booked up today, or find somewhere else if you recommend that Ibiza is not the place for me at this time of year
Thank you all in advance for your help and advice!
I wonder if any of you can help!
