you might remember that joan pantaleoni announced in september (after what happened at the closing of cocoon) that before next summer they would have ready a new norm with the permitted opening/closing times for the clubs to avoid afterhours in san antonio.
and you might remember that back then the press also reported that they could only put a ridiculous fine of 300€ when the clubs didnt respect the closing time because san antonio has less than 20.000 habitants. according to ultima hora pantaleoni was in mallorca yesterday to ask to the balearic government a new byelaw for the town. what san antonio proposed them is fines of 6.000€ (60.000€ if they do it again) and the temporary closure of the club if needed :!:

Foundation Stone of New Bus Station Laid.

Pleased to be laying the foundation stone for the new bus station in Sant Antoni last week despite opposition from some affected land owners & hoteliers in the area (specially the very pissed off owner of piscis park who will lose some of his land and who is writing letters to the newspapers every week complaining about it-Mc), the Mayor of Sant Antoni, Jose Sala, apparently said it was a much needed improvement for the town. Designed to keep the public service buses from having to enter & pass through the centre of the town, the bus station will be up & running in 7 months according to Sala.

so seems like the judgement sundays after at garden of eden and the morning parties at extasis only lasted one summer..........

After Hours Law To Be Presented.

This week it is thought that the new After Hours law will be passed by the Town Hall in Sant Antoni. This will stop all bars classed as "classified entertainment activities", which includes establishments legally known as discos, café conciertos, sala de baile & salas de fiesta, from opening before 21h & they must close at 06h. It appears that this new law is supposedly an attempt by the authorities to control the accesses of the youth & entertainment tourism which visits the town & make it more compatible & respectful of other types of visitors such as family tourism & the residents who live in Sant Antoni.
It was not made clear how this will affect normal bars or bars which have various classifications of license. Also it appears that for the moment the law only applies to Sant Antoni so it will not affect Cala de Bou, Playa de Bossa, Santa Eulària, Es Cana or Eivissa unless all the other Town Halls on the island follow Sant Antonio's lead.

the new law to regulate the opening hours of the clubs (plus the one against street prostitution) was actually passed yesterday:

more news from the ibiza sun:

Cala Gracio Promenade gets Finance.
It was reported last week that the proposed promenade from the end of the port in Sant Antoni, which will pass along the subset strip to Cala Gracio, will be financed & construction can soon start. With the construction costing 900.000€, the promenade will be made up of stone paved sections & lengths of wooden walk ways with integrated lighting as well as creating sightseeing areas & public seating all along the length of the promenade. It appears that more money, around 1 million€, will be invested in tidying up, improving accessibility & creating gardens along the new promenade & other coastal areas of Sant Antoni as well as supposedly re-surfacing the existing promenade in the town.

New Sports Hall Opened.
The Sa Pedrera Sports Hall located on the Santa Agnes road on the outskirts of Sant Antoni was officially opened last week. Able to stage all types of sports such as 3 basket ball games at one time as well as seat 300 plus spectators in the stands inside this 2 story 3.554m2 enclosed structure, this much needed sports installation will help give sports a big push on the island.

Rubbish Re-cycling To Be Obligatory.
Rather than making it a free choice as to if residents re-cycle & separate rubbish they throw away into the appropriate categories, new environmental laws will presumably make this compulsory. The Town Hall has apparently now installed sufficient re-cycling & selective disposal containers throughout the borough so that they can change the by laws & impose fines of up to 3000€, depending upon the gravity of the offence, on any person or company who fails to re-cycle or separate their rubbish.
