Your Manor

whole thing just made me throw things at the tv. manchester for instance as one entity, what a load of cobblers - it has rubbish bits and nice bits (even as an ex plastic scouser I can say this) from mosside & gorton (sh1t) to didsbury & chorlton (nice) and many many places in between, it was just plain lazy and dare i say typical of london centric media to just lump it into one. why not go the whole hog and just say 'the north'?!

The London ones didn't get treated much better though - everywhere has rubbish bits and nice bits. Where I live in Lambeth is full of middle class graduates and yummy mummies but a two minute walk down the road and you're in the middle of some of the poorest estates in the country.

When I worked in Fulham I found that really like that - at one side I'd be working past the likes of Hugh Grant at lunchtime  and then on the other side is one of the roughest estates that you'd be too scared to walk thru.

i know - i probably took it all to seriously. I'm all for taking the pi$$ but having a real go on national telly at places that desperately need inward investment & migration just seemed a bit harsh. that and lumping in manchester as one, i mean at least they had the decency to divide london into its constituent parts.
ALSO (and i shut up now, im on a soap box mission here), im not old enough to remember the hacienda nor did i live here at the time, but holding up one of the 'good' things about the city to be that this once great club is now flats was really rubbing it in!

anyway its only tv..;)

I was really surprised to see Manchester there actually.

The stats they've used are by local authority, hence you get the City of Manchester up against the London Borough of Islington or West Dorset District Council. It's an unfair comparison...but still quite an entertaining programme I thought.
