Your Manor

I think they were doing it by local authority. Leyton falls into Waltham Forest which includes affluent areas like Chingford as well as the less salubrious parts.

Ahh I get you, so is that why Islington is on the list cos it includes all the rougher areas near to it??

Islington's got a lot of estates and if you think about the bit around Kings Cross, it's not all posh. It's also got less green space than any other borough.

I just think of Upper St and the surrounding area when I think of Islington - I forget you go just down the road and you're into crack/red light city

East Hertfordshire made the top ten, but I'm just going to broaden that to the whole of Herts so Watford is included too

yeah I always think of Islington and push, up market, but forget kings cross is a minute walk - all the best areas in my view have crap holes in close proximity.

I used to live in Newman and always bought the newman recorder - this paper is worrying, murders all the time, old people getting mugged - I honestly had to stop reading it for fear of leaving my house

thing is john, if you read ANY local paper, you think you are living in a crime-zone

i lived in newham and can indeed confirm it is a $hithole

im moving to islington (a sort of nice bit)

all the top 10 nice places are for sad people

whole thing just made me throw things at the tv. manchester for instance as one entity, what a load of cobblers - it has rubbish bits and nice bits (even as an ex plastic scouser I can say this) from mosside & gorton (sh1t) to didsbury & chorlton (nice) and many many places in between, it was just plain lazy and dare i say typical of london centric media to just lump it into one. why not go the whole hog and just say 'the north'?!

I like Chorlton, I've got some good friends there (yeah, yeah I know it's a bit, some of best friends are______ ), but 'nice' it isn't.

Ok, im not advertising the place as an oasis just in comparison to the suburbs of most northern cities, however the beech rd area down to the green in particular is really rather nice (nice pubs, bars, trees and green things) and I swear, despite what you may think its one of the most desirable places in manchester to buy with property prices (relative to the n of England) that reflect this.....however if your perception is bad and I am holding it up as an example of somewhere that is nice in manchester it probably justifies the whole of the city being lumped together!

Most places are a **** hole/dump in the eyes of others.
One persons heaven is anothers hell and all that bla.
