World Cup Thread

Spain all the way this evening.

France have contributed NOTHING but arrogance to the tournament so far. I think they'll be found out tonight (i hope so anyway).
 
they have all been a bit crap although i didn't see brasil today. reckon england will definately be upping the ante vs portugal though. will probably work so long as sven shuffles that midfield (i hope he keeps it as is though :lol:)
 
nah i wouldn't say so, im obviously disappointed to be proved wrong but i think over the 90 minutes France definately edged it. They've annoyed me so far with their arrogance but tonight they held their defence well and weren't frustrated by Spain's back line. Deserved winners, but I wish it had been a better result.

France v Brasil looks a tasty fixture now.
 
It's a very young selection with lots of huge players, it's going to be great in years to come, but at least this year they are back home with honour and dignity.
How good is Cesc? 8O

Last World cup I was angry, this time round im just numb.

What is wrong with our players??!!!

We didnt deserve to win. Experience won over youth. Thought the french stiffled our creative players like Cesc and Xavi very well, and forced them to play too deep in our half. Raul hopefully played his final match for us too.

The average age of our 1st eleven yesterday was 24.5, so if you take Raul out its even less. I think theres hope for the future.. just :(

Happy for Zidane, NOT for that arrogant, hypocrite Henry who's living off his clean image he has in the premiership.. he's as bad as everyone else.. so can he PLEASE stop taking the moral high-ground when it comes to cheating??

Spot on. Total Hypocrite. To think I defended him after the Champions League Final. He showed himself up last night when he went down holding his face. Unfortunately, I doubt it will dent his Sponsorship paycheque.

(it was a foul though)

I heard that argument too on Talksport last night after the game. If thats the case then Henry is more of a fool than I thught he was.. Tell you what why doesnt every team playing against Wolves dive in pay back to what Hoddle said about the disabled??
Henry to his credit did say that the rascism issue was forgotten.

I think its ironic in a way that Henry thinks Puyol is such a cheat when Puyol's been the one who's most suffered from the worst dives (Henry last night - goal, eboue in the CL final - goal)

fatphil, i do sort of agree that it was a foul, the problem is that you see that sort of challenge in every game as defenders try to shield a ball from going out, and refs NEVER give a free kick :?

i always thought Henry was such an elegant player but after CL final he looks to me more and more of a sad looser. :?
The thing is that I was told off on this forum about the diving thing after Barça-Chelsea mach, when Messi supposedly dived after Assier playing too strong. Most of here insisted it's a spanish thing and bla bla bla but looking at the CL and world cup you better look at your players with a bit more of objectiviness

BTW, you can say lots of things about Puyol, but he is one of the most honest guys in the whole liga
