This topic just needs leaving....its going nowhere and just annoying people.

everyone should try and spell in a way that others can understand and ive realised this so im going to make more of an effort 8)

I find it rather amusing that some of our chums on here who do not have English as their first language manage to post without making numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Basically then, apart from a few trolling pedants the vast majority of people agree with me and i'm right :D

So, yes lets leave it here, good idea. I can't think of a better outcome. Thanks.

Once again, I'll say that the "bastardization" of the English language by using these Internet psudo-words such as lol, brb, pmsl, wtf and others is the way that the English language will progress in the comming years.

Honestly, "bastardization" of the English language- the English language is a bastard language! English is nothing more than the worst parts of German, French, Latin and Celtic languages thrown together.

.......but obviously better than all them.

Anyway, what do you know about the English language, you're American! ;) :P

Pardone moi? Have you read a British newspaper lately? I read them every day for work, and the writing has gone all to hell! More slang than you can shake a stick at! At least Americans can still write in... yes... English!

Ok, we all make mistakes when typing quickly but there's no excuse for deliberately missing out letters or completely changing how word are spelt

SO MANY people on this forum and others do it now

I mean

stil
thanx
comin
goin
gettin
hav
wot
wen

and so on......

If you can't be bothered to write properly then people will not be bothered to read your childish squibble. For the sake of typing another letter which takes less than a second what is the point of not typing it?

"N8" Surely the same kind of thing... Hypocrite ;)

All of them... or parts thereof. Times, Telegraph, Indy, Guardian, Sun, Mirror, and the Mail on occasion. Avoid the Express/Star most of the time.

I'd avoid the Mail too ;)

Why - is it always bills?

(You see, now I don't know if meant the proper noun 'Mail' as in 'The Mail' or the items delivered by your 'postie' (that's 'postman' for those not fond of slang). The lack of capitalisation of the 't' in 'the' adds to the confusion of course.)

I hate it when people shorten 'olive' to 'olv' too!

It causes us, non native speakers, some trouble to understand exactly what you might be trying to say. For example, the enormous amount of mistakes made by people when using 'they're' and 'their' and 'there'. If you use thr for the three of them, you can never be wrong...

I agree entirely, i am currently living in france and when i get a text from a french person in frenh text language, it's almost a completely different language

also hate texting in french, i take the time to make sure it's grammatically perfect, takes ages

I meant the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday... newspapers. Shite ones at that...

I thought in the UK they call mail, 'post'. As in "cheque in the post'. I didn't capitalize 'the Mail' because that's not the full official title.

Try texting in Russian. You got to make sure you transliterated the letters properly (from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet) and then deal with the grammar!
