I'm not mixed up about team vs. individual reward (typical scouser for misunderstanding ;)) You need a captain who will lead by example i.e. giving 100%. My point was that JT always plays 100% and that makes him a good leader for the team.

but JT leads by example anyway so he will lead the team whether skipper or not. stevie G does lead by example, he is flying about all over the pitch and putting tackles just like JT. JT is not a match winner like stevie G tho, i think the captaincy might have been a boost for him, thats all.

stop bullying me!:spank:

I voted other, as Scoobie should be captain....

I also voted Scoobie for president last year....

No wonder I don't get any work done either....

At the end of the day as a Yank you're not really qualified to talk about footballing matters  ;)
I'll use that as my opening to point out that DC United drew with Real Madrid yesterday, following on Chelsea's loss to the MLS All-Starts last week 8)

(little consolation for the World Cup performance, thought )

Whoever said G. Nev is correct, if it wasn't for his position and age I'd put him in there like a shot. But we need someone who will be there for certain next Euro's and WC. JT is our best bet by a long way and England knew this I reckon. Plus, Stevie is already really vocal and has alot of respect on the pitch so hopefully this will give JT a license and for Stevie to be his understudy like he has been already.

 Those world famous teams DC United and MLS All-Starts, Europe is quaking in it's boots  ;)

have you guys actually seen the same stevie G as me?!! he is a born leader and has proved it when it really matters! think champions league when they were 3 down at half time- kept the team focused- and look at the result! again, think of fa cup final 2006, scoring at that very last crucial moment and giving the team inspiration and motivation to keep going! If you listen to any player in the liverpool team, they have utter repsect and admiration for stevie G and everything he does! Don't get me wrong, JT is an excellent footballer, but stevie G, without a doubt, is the natural leader! hahah and this talk of Neville?!!! i agree with whoever said it, little manc twat! :P
