white stripes

Im with Morbyd on this one 8O ;)

I think the world cup comes only once every four years, and I dont think its a big problem.
Am I right in thinking its only this song that they sing along too? If they sang along to very song then fair enough, but this is an ok song, where the words "campioni do mondo" (or however you say it)go well with the riff.

If Spain ever won the world cup I dread to think what id be like.

It was a pain in the rear and so idiotic. Fair enough to sing it if the song's played by the dj, or at the end of the night to show your approval, but it was hummed (badly) at least 50 times a day usually at the most inappropriate times and ruined the mood. Some even sung it after Garnier's set at Pacha. Aye, very good, I'm sure he really appreciated that after playing a storming set for two hours. Why not try one from Black Lace's repertoire next time?

I'm pleased Italy won but I was ready to throttle several Italians throughout the holiday. They were definitely the most rowdy nationality - screaming at the top of their voice at all hours. As has been said, if it was drunken Engerland fans in the West End, you wouldn't find it so funny but at least that's where chants like that belong!

I should note that my defense (above) of the Italian chanting was predicated on the belief that this was taking place in the days immediately following their World Cup victory.

Seeing as it's now mid-August, I imagine it's all gone a bit too far now!

Well, just wait till Bush hears something about crowd of people singing something about a "Seven Nation Army". He'll soon be convinced that they could possibly have "nucular" weapons. Then he'd start bombing Bora Bora in no time. ;)

If the US had won this year, out song would have been "Call on Me". Imagine a bunch of pished Americans humming that all over the island (course there's not many of us, so probably wouldn't have much of an impact)....8O

I actually have been following the World Cup for over 10 years now, but it's hard for me to get into all the other leagues. I really wanted France to beat Italy. Plus, I don't like how it all comes down to penalty kicks to decide the winner. That's like playing "War" to find out who wins in "Texas Hold-em".

Barcelona are playing New York in a friendly on saturday.. we'll see who wins

About that white Stripes song Clara, if like you say they sang it all the time then I agree with you, its not on :spank: I assumed they only just sang it when the DJ played that particular song.

Plus like Morbyd said, I wouldve thought it would only last a few weeks after the final. I certainly dont want tp hear it when I go to the closings!

I was at Bora Bora rom 4.30pm until 5.30pm today. The tables that everyone dances on were wholly manned by Italians doing it to every song. I tell a lie - they sang ´Napoli, Napoli, Napoli´ for a couple of songs too.

Your sh*ting me right..?? Seems to me its getting a bit out of hand now. I can see it going on and on in the future, geeze i hope not!!

A remix of it was played in 2005 in Borabora a lot...
This year it was only played full length a handfull of times..
But when it was played people went crazy!!

Just back from Italy and heard it all over the place there as well. I can definately confirm it is their celebratory chant for being "Campioni Del Mondo" (sung to the tune)....I am of Italian parents but I have to say it annoyed the **** out of me too, just couldn't get away from it and once you hear it once the damn thing won't get out of your head, or is that me!

Mind you, I still prefer it to En - Ger - Land....which no doubt would have been belted out of San An every night if the shoe was on the other foot!
