Read an interesting article with someone from the aviation industry, said that social distancing wont work at airports full stop. He said can you imagine the boarding queues with 2m spacings? They would be snaking round the departure lounge! Same with going through security, body searches etc, and then the buses to ferry you to the planes. Just can't happen. So not sure how they are going to get around that one...it's very well Easyjet saying they are leaving the middle seats empty, gotta get on the plane first...

and maybe they realise that a good club night can easy be done without the big names/big salary star dj line up

the issue with that is it only works if all the clubs see and adhere to that. once one of the big names is playing anywhere again, that's where the mainstream of people will go. I'm sorry but that's just how the world works.

and thus...I'm personally not too sure a lot will change here in ibiza. 2020 will be weird for sure, maybe even 2021, but we'll be back to the usual big name line up nights again without the shadow of a doubt. maybe in other places indeed newer names get more airtime and I would welcome that for sure.

yes, those of us hoping for a revolutionary backlash against big-buck big-brand clubbing are in for a disappointment I think. When the entire infrastructure is geared around that industry, you can't expect it to suddenly discover its inner punk. That said, if the British travel market was to collapse, that might force a change at certain parties? Less Craig David and more Bad Bunny... but still very money-driven.

Also the underground clubs are money driven. Underground is a business case.
The hippie time is over. We have to live with ...

I know that. But it doesn't have to be one extreme or the other.

but that particular debate has been done to death on here... my views are well-documented

As stivi said : The big clubs need names to get the guests. But some of the big names give good parties. Had some good nights with Sven or Solomun or somewhere.
Names dont matter to me...

it wont work. i follow many ibz local djs (french and ibz ones) along my ibz trips and i can see they struggle to have session mix, mixing in some small events/places or hotels and force to mix abroad such dubai maldives thailand and so on.
They will really suffer from this crisis.
Veto Octan n Heart Ibz r places that give chance to them

We love at benimussa park was the best party (with Space ibiza residents Mr Doris Alfredo Jonathan Ulysses smoking Jo...)along ibz closing 19 but treehouse dancefloor was quiet empty ,100 people max, i havent seen any spotlight members except the ones ive dragged to the party and other mates ive succeeded to convince (8people pack)
lot of people are lobotomised about big names, it didnt change from the aera(end 80's) when i used to listen to rock Music ,average people worshipping big name rock bands ?its not all about what the mass media spread.

For such a reversal, you need affordable venues for underground, back-to-the-roots music.

Sadly, these seem in short supply on the island due to the ongoing war against music. And this war is being waged not by evil big-buck clubs, but by Ibiza residents and their elected representatives.

you not heard of the "Disco Mafia" then

but yes I agree, it is a struggle on all fronts. I always support smaller venues when I'm over

(any word on what happens to Veto next?)
