What's the weather like at the moment?

wednesday looking mega windy again, orange weather alert

sooo...tomorrow late afternoon/evening is looking like the peak when it comes to wind. maybe it won't be that bad, but the authorities seem to think we're in for more fallen trees etc. be careful out there tomorrow - maybe a day to actually stay home (note to myself: yes me too)

Looking at satellite and webcams, looks very poor weather at the moment but should be filling up those aquifers. Improving for the weekend though!!

waves up to the terraces of mambo & CDM today

but it was a glorious and sunny day at least - quite strange for us here on the balearics to have such a long stretch of bad weather. it started raining just before christmas and except a few days early january, we've had over a month of clouds, rain - and wind. but hey, the campo looks bloody gorgeous right now. been out hiking today and it was just a feast for the eyes.

sooooo - update from the weather front!

after literally weeks of having one 'borrasca' (storms / low pressure systems) after the next, it looks like we're getting towards the end of it this week and from mid feb onwards we might get into a stable situation for a while.

it's been years since we've had such a long bad weather spell, it had started raining just before christmas and apart from a few days it's been raining ever since and now it is finally stopping by the looks of it. unusual for us really, but as previously mentioned, fantastic for our acquifers and generally for nature.

now then, if you're still planning on that quick balearic winter break, get planning!

The crazy strong winds are back - kept me up for much of last night with all the banging noises. Apparently meant to get even windier tomorrow - yikes!

A friend on the island messaged me to say her friend’s plane over from London City this morning had to be rerouted to Alicante, then back to London, this afternoon due to the strong winds preventing it from landing safely in Ibiza.

Fun fact meteonerds. Across the country, it was the least sunny January in 30 years.

Proper gales over here this week. We managed to dodge it up the coast. Have seen a few moans though that too many emergency alarms are going out. Authorities covering their backs… I guess the risk there is that people will eventually get complacent ‘cry wolf’ style.

It’s been a real pain for carnival organisers too

it was definitely an 'interesting' few weeks in terms of weather eh?

as mentioned a few days back, we're finally at the end of this period now. by all accounts today should be the last really gray day and then we're in for some better weather for a while it seems. might still be windy, but certainly sunnier as what we've had now lately!

I spy with my glass eye...a little old island peeping through the clouds!

I did something very rare on Thursday and bailed on a run. Was taking huge effort to move forward into a headwind, I thought "F*ck this" and walked home😂😂

It has been proper nuts for the past few weeks.

Bizarrely all our pot plants need watering!

The winds are back with a vengeance. Absolutely crazy once again, when is this shit ending?

Tree down on my outing this morning, sadly the photo's I took are blurry AF. Bombers and protection civil all busy with chainsaws getting the road cleared. Let me run right under the fallen tree 😂😂 Back in the UK it's a two day job getting H&S on the scene, road closed blah blah. Spain just get things done!

Yikes, hope you’re all ok and the tree is cleared soon. Sad to see so many trees, including lovely old trees, coming down in the winds this winter. A massive & beautiful older tree at Soho Farmhouse sadly went last Thursday and fell into the swimming pool - which they’ve had to completely drain and re-tile

Actually less windy on the west coast today but felt it more in Ibiza Town earlier today.

Definitely fed up with the winds but glad to have the sun back since the weekend.
