What's the weather like at the moment?

We arrived on Thursday evening to chilly drizzle - no sunset. Friday and Saturday were beautiful - think we were really lucky. Sunday was a washout. We went all the way down to El Chiringuito for lunch, having checked it was still open despite the weather. They said all fine we are open, but when we got there it was chaos - totally flooded and closed. At that point there were no taxis and we were stuck there, hungover, wet and hungry with all our bags for the airport. In the end we managed to get a private transfer to the airport earlier than planned and just hung around there for a few hours. Not our best ever ending to an Ibiza trip. Friends of ours have been there for 10 days and have another 5 to go. They are really depressed about the weather as it's their main summer trip.

It's a shame because by now the weather is usually reliable. They're having what I normally get mid-to-late September, storms (often heavy) with sunny interludes (fantastic sunsets when there's a mix in the air) but the temperature is warmer and the sea much warmer late Sept.

Last year I think we had record sea temperatures around Ibiza, mainly due to an exceptionally long and hot summer (water shortages everywhere by autumn) so that's unlikely to happen again as it's starting from a low base.

The key is an anti-cyclone above the UK and North Atlantic (high pressure) means low pressure over the Med = storms, cool etc. Won't last forever but a bummer if that's your major holiday right now.

This week last year saw a high of 26c, long sunny days with light clouds, and no rain. https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/spain/ibiza/historic?month=5&year=2022

Bet all them snakes wish they hadn't bothered coming over....

Well last summer, May was pretty rubbish and then from June onwards it was consistently sunny and we got less storms that usual

This summer (and spring) so far has actually been very hot and dry by comparison. It's only been the last week and half that's been inconsistent and even then, I wouldn't say that's that unusual for May tbh
