What's the best sound system you've ever heard?

Discoteca at Space, absolutely crystal clear. The Box at Ministry has a great sound, but it's a wee bit loud, the bar was just deafening last time I was there and not too clear either. Back home, the Stiff Kitten (new club in Belfast run by the guys who do Shine) has a Funktion 1 which, again, gives immaculate sound but it can be a bit quiet due to the flats opposite the front door. When I saw Yoda there he kept turning it up and people had to run over and turn it down again.

The Dynacord system @ Space Miami, it literally sounds like you have a pair of head phones in whatever part of the club you're in. I haven't experienced any of the clubs in Ibiza, so I'm sure my opinion could quite possibly change.

In london id say ministry, fabric, the End, in that order.

In Ibiza, the new terrace without doubt. I found the sound in Pacha pretty poor last month Grego, but maybe it was the rubbish Jeff Mills played that night that made it sound worse :spank:

The Phazon in the Courtyard at Nation was probably the first immense sound system I heard - blew me away :p

Funktion 1's are the ****

Ditto. I miss my Nation days.

I was impressed that while the music at the opening of Space was very loud, when I left (after 16 hours) my ears were not ringing. The floor I enjoyed most due to the sound quality was actually not the DJ terrace but the sunset terrace (right in the middle of the dance floor). I felt engulfed by the sound and it made my whole body tingle!
I was surprised to see so many people with earplugs this year... I kept thinking they were trying to make some kind of statement like "I'm too cool to be here listening to this DJ", especially when at Space the sound quality was so tremendous that earplugs were completely unnessesary. I guess some people's ears are too precious to endure one day of the best music in the world...

The problem is when you've been enduring far too many days of the best music in the world!

I don't wear earplugs but I need to start... my hearing is going to hell.

If you get the good ones, you still hear the music just fine, only at a non-damaging level...

Wearing earplugs is now pretentious? That's a new one!

I can't believe you thought earplugs were unneccesary in Space :? I think it was Liam or Ben who perforated an eardrum on the new terrace it was so loud!

It may have just seemed that way due to the main type of people I saw wearing them... I honestly have nothing against people who wear auditory safety devices (it just made me chuckle a bit at the time, you know the whole 'going to a concert to hear music but wearing earplugs' thing)

And I do/did realize that they could hear the music just fine through them, it just seemed at bit odd to me, but then again it was only my second trip to the white island (I'm sure I'll be wearing them too after a few more trips/years)
