What music are you into?

I'm really into Gothic-Metal genre.

My first Metal band and one of my favourite is Metallica !!!!

10 years ago I started listening to Gothic with Evanescence ("Origin", 2000).
3 years later I loved "Fallen".

After that, my interest for that kind of music really grew up quickly.

Right now I'm appreciating Symphonic-Metal, especially bands coming from the "Northern Connection", i.e. Epica, After Forever, Delain and Within Temptation (Holland), Nightwish, Northern Kings (Finland).

I'm really loving Death-Metal and Hard & Heavy too: Dimmu Borgir from Norway and Lordi from Finland really rock !!!

I can reckon loads of bands coming from all over the world, such as Sirenia, Tristania, Visions Of Atlantis, Kamelot, Xandria, Sonata Arctica that fulfil my musical interests.....

Since I'm italian, I like Lacuna Coil as well....Thought the sound is too quiet for me...

deep house, acid house, glitch house, Hungarian house, my house your house, handbag house, hardbag house, hardcore, softcore, northern uproar, liquid grooves, intelligent jungle, drum n bass, bass in your face, london, stoner rock, balearic beats, detroit techno, tartan techno, aquatic techno, balkan basslines, contorted NRG, fierce flamenco, crystallised crunk, electric euphoria, voodoo rays, jackin' a box, hi tech jazz, shades of rhythm, porno soundtracks, kinetic calypso, disco deviance, minimal moonscapes, oh and Chris Rea whilst I'm doing the ironing

Personally I like it all

liar

I imagine you would rather insert leeches into your cock than be subjected to Shania Twain for 6 hours at O'Neills on Wardour Street (I received counselling for weeks after visiting that place)

I certainly admire your enthusiasm but, er, are you sure you are on the right forum?

yes, he (or she) is. here's our guideline for clubing open chat.

lighten up, jeez

perhaps you can explain the relevance of satanic norwegian metal cults to this forum?

i'm light enough as it is. perhaps you in your wisdom can explain why they are not relevant to this forum?

because virtually every tourist who goes to Ibiza who spends time on forums like this has some kind of loose affinity with dance culture - but italian/norwegian blood drinking satanists and Ibiza aren't exactly natural bedfellows are they?

perhaps I stand to be corrected? :)

I'm really into Gothic-Metal genre.
I went through a serious gothic-industrial phase.

On the gothic and sometimes-perceived-as-gothic side there were groups like the Cure, Siouxsie, Sisters of Mercy, Xymox, Joy Division, the Mission, Bauhaus, Love & Rockets, Lords of the New Church, Cranes, etc... Industrial was stuff like Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM and even EBM-type acts like Nitzer Ebb and Front 242.

The early 90s Manchester invasion, followed by the whole grunge thing and also the shoegazer movement, snapped me out of it. Although I've still got time for more recent acts that have been lumped into the gothic category, like Evanescence. I was just listening to the Cranes in the car on my way to work today.

My current music tastes are a bit all over the place.

House and techno for sure. Various subgenres of rock (gothic, industrial, punk, post-punk, power-pop, grunge, etc, etc). 80s rock & pop, especially British. Lounge, downtempo, trip-hop and other more chilled forms of electronic music. I've got time for Motown classics, early rock, blues. Sometimes I enjoy a bit of jazz. Opera isn't bad either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the title of the thread is "What music are you into" not "What music are you into that fits perfectly with Olly's perception of what Ibiza visitors like" :!:

unhappily, on this forum, it's me who decides what is, or is not, posted - loose affinity or no.

leave the moderating to me please.

my point that people seem to be missing is that a specifically niche scene like the one our Italian friend described above is highly unlikely to have much of a presence in Ibiza, which is why I found it odd (s)he should write so enthusiastically about it on this forum. That's all.

Yes, well, since espuma's been a regular for ages, you can probably infer that there is also some affinity for electronic dance music. But that wasn't the point of this thread, as far as I can tell!

And you've obviously missed the older threads where Puppylover, Silvia and I have reminisced about experiences with 80s goth bands

now i understand. should i lock the post about snow as that doesn't have much of a presence in ibiza?

goth was all a bit too "self-conscious boarding school kids hanging around in Camden" for me. Industrial had its moments though - Senser were quite big in my first year at uni

I love dance music, such as techno, trance and tribal, but "there is more out there".

My interests embrace other music genres as well.

Sorry but If I'm not wrong the title is "What music are you into?" and it's not specified that the topic deals only with dance music.

Also, I think that associate goth-metal with satanism is just a stereotype.

I'm really into with that music, but I'm not satanist and I don't drink blood.....

Anyway, if I misunderstood the sense of the topic I apologize with all of you.
