What happened to the heatwave .....

I didnt hear we were having one this week, just that we're expected to have one this summer :? maybe I heard wrong

They said July and August are going to be really hot and beat the hottest day ever record, altho how they can predict that when they can't normally predict 3 days in advance :?

It's probably just giving us all something to cling onto the hope that we're going to get a nice hot long summer

urggghhhhh.....heatwaves and having to use public transport...urghhhh nasty combination.

Heatwaves, wearing a helmet at 4.00 pm with no shade and stopping near a bus in the traffic light... beat that robo! :?

I read in a paper the other day that a certain day (can't remember which) in August was to be 103 degrees 8O

And 6 other days July/August would top 101.

12 August is supposed  to be the hottest day of the year, its a Friday, so I've booked it off work 8) just in case :D

LOL, i admire your confidence.

knowing my luck it'll be peeing down with rain, but least I'll have a long weekend :D

We are facing a very hard summer here in Spain.
It rained lots on monday and tuesday but it was first time it rained strongly in 13 months 8O

Some Spanish areas have water restrictions, in Catalonia it's not allowed to use water for gardens, golf court and pools, and it's only mid may so in june or july I bet 90% of the spanish pools will be empty

And, another problem it's fire. There's usually lots of big wood fires in summer so this year predicitons are the worst :(

That's horrible.

We had that 3 summers ago in Moscow (2002). Not forest fires but peet bog fires. Peat bogs are basically swamp-like areas with lots of dead organic material in them.

There where fires all around the outside of the city (and with peat bogs, it's like a slow burn, almost underground!) and in the city center the smoke got so bad that you could barely see a few meters sometimes. 8O

We complain about weather here in the uk, but we're quite lucky to not suffer freak weather conditions that can wreak havoc (see above)

I can only remember the 1976 severe drought and the hurricane winds in the south (year?) as being freak weather here.

UK weather is very mild. Especially when compared to hurricanes in Florida (where my parents live), "noreaster" snowstorms in the northeast US (where I went to uni) or the hell that is a Moscow winter

That's true, Drew. Spain has a lovely weather, lots of sun and all that but there's serious problems of water. I remember years ago visiting Andalucía with water restrictions and it was only april 8O

1988 Drew.

But we do have more severe weather than that, usually in the form of floods  Remember Carlisle, Yalding & Pembury (Kent) etc

No i don't :?

Floods is something we'll never have to worry about living 60/80ft in the sky.

That wind does howl sometimes though!

Living 60-80ft up in a flood is fine but how will you get anywhere and do your cars live up there with you?
