Ali Renault is amazing.
I’d like to play out more but work (promoting other DJs & producers!) has taken over.
I would love to play at Pikes next summer though…
yeah do it!
*rise from your grave is such a tune - fond memories of Pierre playing The Loft in Brighton in 2014. Closed down now I hear? Criminally I think there were only about 25 people in there. Absolutely blistering set - vaguely remember a load of classics. chicago bits, nods to Felix da housecat, stuff like that. I'd recently started going out with my missus who was living in Hove at the time. She's from a folky/indie background & knew diddly squat about house music beyond the odd Cream cd. She was hugging the walls by the end!
I didn't make that night but think I recall people discussing how Pierre had such a small crowd there. It never really took off as a venue but then, Brighton is a strange place for putting on club nights or at least has been over the last few years.
Yeah here's where I struggle a bit with Brighton nights...not really done clubbing properly yet (been held back by lockdown and having 2 kids under 5!)...pretty much just look for Patterns and the odd night at Concorde 2...seen the odd good night at The Rialto recently as well...Anywhere I should be looking but have missed @Clara?
yeah I never went to many amazing nights tho do recall Erol Alkan/Princess Superstar at a sweaty Concorde 2 which was off the scale going back a bit when booka shade, hot chip and mylo were mandatory in every set. But far more flops though. Tornado Wallace who I think is brilliant played to myself and Andy Soft Rocks and a few others and I just thought fk this. more fun & games to be found at the kinfolk knees ups at the globe and fortune of war. Small scene though. you probably know them all. I do miss it sometimes!
Wow, when did Tornado Wallace play Brighton? I worked on his album out last year on Optimo Music.
