A weekend of mixed emotions…went home to visit the folks for my Dad’s 60th! Got very drunk and talked ****e with my uncle all evening displaying my wine stained medieval teeth for all to see
. It was a wicked evening actually.
I always feel decidedly normal when surrounded by desperate divorcees, family freaks and Aunties from Hicksville.
Also caught up with the blind, deaf (but happy) little doggy and walked around the fields in the sunshine 8) – reeeeally needed to hug some trees after being cooped up in London for so long.
Also moved my Gran to an old people’s home which was very strange – she was really nervous and I had to put her in the living room and instigate conversation so she could meet some new friends. She looked really vulnerable when I left and it was heartbreaking
– it’s like sending a kid off to uni for the first time – only harder because change is more difficult in your old age.
The old gal will be fine soon enough tho. I’m looking forward to hearing her whinges about all the in fighting and old lady politics.
So what with 60th birthdays and being in old folks homes, I’ve been reminded of my own mortality…life is reeeeally short isn’t it? Where has the last decade gone for example?!?!?
Oh and the lunar eclipse on Saturday night was magical. Anyone see it?
