Weekend Rundowns

I feel surprisingly lucid for a Monday morning. Pretty straightforward weekend...

Friday - Surprise visit to Moscow by my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. The missus decided she didn't feel like going out so it was up to me to entertain on their first night. We started at a club called Ikra but it was a bit empty so we moved on to Krysha (roof), a summer club project that is, not surprisingly, on a rooftop. The place was a bit surreal but one of the country's top DJs, Anton Kubikov (aka SCSI 9), was playing. After sending the crew home, a friend and I went to Mix for afterhours. I vaguely remember getting some carry-out food from Starlite Diner on the way home in the morning.

Saturday - Woke up late afternoon. Sat around the house until late evening when the missus and I joined up with the relatives and a DJ friend and his wife at Cafe Mio for a late sushi dinner and drinks. Then to Fabrique where the DJ, Oleg Ojo, played his set. Ran home to catch the 2nd half of Chelsea v. MLS All-Stars and made it a (relatively) early night around 4.

Sunday - Got up at 1pm which felt remarkably early for a weekend so I decided to have a productive day and went to Ikea. Got 4 small furniture items and other bits for the kitchen and bathroom for a mere $100. I love that place! (though the experience of shopping there is always a bit stressful). Met up with the relatives for goodbye dinner & drinks at a very chilled outdoor Italian restaurant terrace. Went home to assemble furniture items and watched some episodes of Firefly.

Decent weekend. Nice to see the relatives.

Fri - my Mum, Dad, Gran and Grandad were staying with us - good food and lots of wine.

Sat - hit the shops with my Mum and came back with loads of purchases. At night we went to Wimbledon for a friend's suprise birthday dinner which was lovely. Went back to the host's house with the intention of just having a couple of wines and getting the tube home, fast forward to 9am and we're all galvanising with a bottle of poppers attached to our noses   Woke up 4 hours later on the sofa in Wimbledon, so much for our plan of being responsible parents

Sun - dragged our sorry bodies to Battersea (probably scaring half the dogs in the process  ), went and had a look round the kennels and saw 2 dogs that we completely fell in love with. The procedure at Battersea is that you then make a note of the dogs numbers and then have an interview with one of the staff to discuss their suitability. The first dog, an adorable Westie had just had an operation on his ear so wasn't ready to be rehomed so that one wasn't suitable for us. The other one was the most gorgeous little Yorkshire Terrier that I just HAD to HAVE  Unfortunately when the staff told us about her apparently she was a problem dog and had lots of behaviour problems so wasn't suitable for us  To quote Tom 'I've already got a g/friend with behavioural problems so I know what hard work they are' There were another couple of dogs that matched our profile but they were both suffering from kennel cough and can't be rehomed for another week or so so we came away dog-less  but were told just to keep going back until we find one suitable.

Few wines to finish the weekend off as I made plans to break into Battersea and steal some of the dogs

Galvanising? Liek it! Good choice of words!

I was expecting you to put "have an interview with the dog".

All sorts of funny pictures in that image!

Did you not think it's a bit unfair to show you all the dogs and then tell you you can't have them? I think teasing you like that is asking you to break in!

Friday: Stayed in and watched big brother and trainspotting

Saturday: Slept in and then spent the day scrubbing the house 8O because we're moving out in a couple of weeks and it needs to be clean for the cleaners

Sunday: up bright and early, caught the bus to london for secret sundaze 8) Bought some new sunnies as I'd lost my old ones and arrived at The Light nice and early. Had an absolutely excellent day, music wasn't as spot on as last time but it didn't disappoint. Bumped into becks and jon *waves* quite randomly, hope you two are feeling OK today! I feel alright actually, just like a mild hangover really.

Overall an excellent weekend, greatly enjoyed SS again, shall be returning for the next one

Oh, and I had a great weekend sorted out literally a million things, and was ace, up until the point when my laptop died (due to an earlier injury due to knocking it off it's stand - apparently no, it doesn't bounce very highly, for anyone that's interested).

It's going into surgery (pc repair shop) today though as it's a physical fault witht he disk, I'm not too hopeful of it's recovery.

Triple :(

 They are just asking for me to break in and kidnap a few dogs aren't they

In a way tho I do think it's really good that they're so thorough as they want to be 100% sure that the dog is right for you and you for them cos it would be so easy for them to just palm you off with any old dog.

Which reminds me it's time to back up the hard drive :!:

Good luck with that... losing your data is a royal pain.

Spent the weekend in lovely Turin, enjoying the sunshine, drinking amazing coffee and eating gelati - perfect!

Randomly stumbled upon a wicked minimal party on the Friday night with sunglassed Italo-glam boys and drag queens - like DC10 but in Turin - get in!

8) @ minimal sunglassed party

I was hanging around with your friend John from Cheshire Catz at SS - what a lovely boy ( )

Friday - met up with some old work friends, got HORRIBLY drunk, ended up missing the last tube back to Jon's so somehow crawled onto a nightbus back to Harrow, then got a cab from there. Finally got in at about 4am, only to be woken up at 8am by my friend's little nieces and nephews running around screaming "BECKI'S HERE YAAAAYYYY!" Grrrr - little brats

Saturday - Hangover from hell all day, dragged my body on the train over to Jon's. Went over his stepdad's in the evening for a very hot curry (just what I needed 8O )

Sunday - woke up with all the best intentions, popped into Brick Lane for a roast at the Big Chill, met up with a friend who somehow managed to convince us that going to Secret Sundaze was a good idea 8O Fast forward 5 hours and we're rolling around the garden outside of SS getting drunk and a little bit minxy  Bumped into Nick which was a pleasant suprise ;) and also soem guys from my school which was quite surreal 8O Home by 11.30pm, straight to bed and dont feel THAT bad today suprisingly.

So much for a quiet weekend after Global!

That sounds like a nice weekend break there, Mr Sun. What made you choose Turin?

Friday: nothing to report

Saturday: Our little boy was staying with his granparents On Sat / Sun so it was a chance to unwind & have fun:twisted: Early evening, into Leeds, few beers enjoying the evening sun. Onto a mexican called Cactus Lounge. Probably the bext mexican food we have ever had, served by a gorgeous blonde girl who the wife wanted to kidnap for the night:roll: Few beers at bar fudge, decent music to get warmed up for back2basics. The new venue is really the business, fabulous outdoor terrace for cooling down after meltdown inside. Darren Emmerson was on, really enjoyed his music. Plans for afterparty nonesense were thwarted when the misus wanted her bed :( All in all a fantasic night, getting us limbered up for Ibiza in a few weeks:)

Sunday: Late up, few beers & food in our local pubs (all two of them). The wife has finally admitted she is not suited to village life, a move could be on the cards:)
