Weekend Plans

not really 'weekend plans', more of an internal mental observation.

it's opening weekend here, from tomorrow night until monday night there's plenty of big parties left, right and centre.
and you know what? for the first time in about 20 years, I could not possibly care less.

I did go to akasha last week to see sven and have a boogie, but with that, I'm satisfied again for quite a while I think.
I'll still go out every now and then, but now I think I can genuinely say my big party years are over. it's not only the fact I'm out hiking every day, I also am honestly not attracted to a lot of the nights right now.

I'll see you out hiking this summer - and if we're very lucky, we coincide somewhere on the dancefloor!

Fair one, I guess that mindset will come to us all one day but I’m certainly not ready to hang my boots up yet. I guess if I lived there I may feel differently too.

This weekend… IBIZA 💙💛 and taking a new girlfriend who’s never been which makes it even more exciting!

Tonight - midweek footy match. Top of the table clash. Must win.

Friday - Youngest is 10! Birthday cake in the morning. Flight to Dublin in the evening, with the missus and terrors in tow. Friday night, bit of dinner and hotel kip.

Saturday - off to the train station after breakfast. Arrive in Galway about midday and drop bags to hotel. Full day of exploring, possibly pop out to Salthill and then grab some dinner somewhere.

Sunday - not doing the half Connemarathon now as after tonight I will have played 3 football matches in 6 six days as well as footy training on Tuesday. I needed to do in less than 2 hours to make the train in time for our flight home and my body already aches all over. Instead. we'll have some nice breakfast and a leisurely stroll about, before heading back to Dublin for flight home.

I know what Stivi means. There's no point going to something, going through the motions, if it doesn't twist your melons. I went to a free St Jordi Day open air thing at a brewery here yesterday and there were DJs and stuff and it was shit and I was probably the 4th oldest there. No point clinging on to the wreckage. Unleash your endorphins in other ways I guess. Some people have kids, others do extreme sports. Everyone's different. I guess I'm at an age where I'm still working out how to fill the void as clubbing fades into memory. I still love music more than ever but the world's changed.

Probably not for this thread for this tbf…but as to echo what Stivi, SG and Paul have said things change, especially when you get a little older. I’m 53 now and have flitted in and out of the clubbing scene over 3 spells since 91 and have come to realise, less is more. Pick the right DJs, parties and most of all with the right people/crowd and that keeps the flame bright or at least for me.

Also Paul mentioned about having a new lady, and the same happened to me around 18 months ago when I met someone. She loves dancing and especially on the Electronic/Club scene, (occasional 💊) so for me it rekindled my love for a good night too. This was also coupled with me just coming back from solo trip to Ibiza Oct’23 after a 29 relationship breakup too.

Spot on mate! I don’t go out every night in Ibiza anymore, but when I do I still throughly enjoy and I hope that continues for the foreseeable. Like you said, just have to pick the right parties. Usually the smaller more intimate ones for me now.

On a further note I was out at day/night 2weekends ago at the Palm House, Sefton Park Liverpool with Danny Howells and Miss Melera with a mix age (mainly older) crowd and had a great day to be honest. Then last week flew solo and went to watch Slam DJs at Beaver works and met two late 30 guys and had another fantastic night too. Maybe a I got lucky but think the idea is to pick fewer nights and go with the right group and you can still party like it’s 1991….although 2 days to recover for us elder statesmen !!😂

Deffo on the smaller, more intimate nights. Went to Sven closing at Akasha last year and was class and for me that is the way to go going forward. Also met a few spotlighters too which was a good buzz too

Yes, def gonna up there again this weekend. Either for the Alfredo tribute night or Optimo on the Sunday

Leeds and Burnley are notoriously difficult games for us (Liverpool) so I'm not exactly delighted you're both back 😂.

Interesting summer for you boys as last time you were promoted you spent alot and it didn't work out. I actually think you are in a better position to stay up this time because you are so difficult to score past. With just a few additions and a decent striker you'll be fine and I hope you stick with Parker - that Esteve looks a real player. I have a fairly large interest in Burnley as half my family are from there and support them! Best of luck
I agree we should fair better than last time but if I'm honest I still think we will struggle. However we can enjoy this gor now 😁 Esteve will go on to great things

Back to this weekend. Was meant to be a week in Ibiza but flights cancelled so moved to July. And then also booked last weekend which was ace.

So this weekend doing nothing and waiting to be tonked by Leeds Monday in a weird season where we're not mid table with Preston. And actually have something to play for past December!

It's the hope that kills you.

Felt less interested in a lot of this years lineups. Have a couple of nights booked but will probably just pay on the door if we feel we want to do something this year. Which feels refreshing tbh.

Waiting for a Sasha residency at Chinois which will fill another night 😬

Hiya mate. Has the Sasha residency been confirmed at Chinois and when is likely to be from and to?

No. But the teasers they gave have come to fruition so far with their other residencies.

So I am hoping S_ _ _ _ is "Sasha" unless it is "Sash!"...

Could be totally wrong and disappointed

Caught Sasha & Digweed with Guy J in Eden on my birthday last year. Then Sasha in Akasha last year.

I'd rate both as two of my best nights amongst some very good nights in 2024 Ibiza. If you pushed me Sasha at Akasha was number 1.

Crossing fingers for Chinois but have Sasha & Digweed in Bristol late July if the stars don't align for Ibiza.

For about the last 10 years, I only go to a party if I really want to go to that party. Even if I have tickets or have been planning to go to that party for months - if I am not in the mood to go, I'll just go to bed early.

Weekend plans: I am fighting the temptation to buy a last minute ticket to Ibiza, hastily pack my hand luggage and go to IMS Dalt Vila, as it is on my bucket list. I am sure sanity will prevail though :) Will do household chores, maybe do a long walk in the forest (it's beautiful with fresh green leaves and birch pollen gone), or maybe book a Lufthansa surprise ticket to a random destination.

Updates to above:

Won footy match 2-0, but unbeknown to me one of our players has played a grand total of 64 mins of semi-pro football (across 4 games) this season and the opp have dug this out and complained. Techically, we've broken the rules and may have to replay the game.

Youngest managed a tatical chunder at school yesterday and is thus at home today - just had a dirty McDs as his birthday lunch of choice🐷
