I take it you had a bad experience then
I've only driven through before - it looked extremely pleasant - maybe that was helped by the amount of naked ladies we saw laid on those platforms next to the yachts
Not that i was looking of course
The hotel looks fab and has great reviews so who cares? We'll be in Antibes most of the wedding day anyhow drinking/eating for free 8)
We won't be bothering with Monaco though - what a $hithole!
Yeah, looks a bit negative reading it back.
Antibes is nicer (it's only a 10 minute walk away), and is lovely for a little nose and wander round town. Just playing "pick the boat" in the harbour is a great way to spend a sunny day. There a few market stalls with lovely antiques and bits too.
It's essentially a port town, and everyone there either owns a boat, or works one, so there's quite a thriving ex-pat community of boathands, which is cool. Le Pub (i think that was it's name) is cool if you need a friendly face to ask for anything (though not
anything, it's certainly not that kind of place). As everything is made for tourists and wealthy people, I found ALL prices seemed to get raised purely because they could. There was certainly no great value in the prouducts or services. I wondered why people would bother with JLP/Antibes when you have the more obvious destinations of Cannes etc, so will be very interested to see what you though of those places.
Going back to JLP, the best nightclub was one which name ecapes me, though is styled like Wild West place. The Milk Bar is possible the ultimate epitomy of every thing I hate in a modern nightclub, though is seen as uber-cool by the odd-dressing locals. There's quite a few clothes shops too
Theres also a cool brazillian bar which does cocktails in assorted cups, (i.e. The coconut cocktail comes still in a coconut), and the three main types of restaurants are Seafood restaurants, Seafood resaurants, and Seafood restaurants.
Oh, and they charge you (20€) for sitting on the beach. Which, aside from the funnyness of it all, is a bit shocking, and rather summed up my time there.
Not sure if this is a bit too detailed for your brief visit, though if you only take one thing from it I hope it helps in some way.
Have a great time!
