We Love @ Space - Live Music ?????

New to the board, hello :DIMO Space is a massive venue that wouldn't go down the pan if a band played one of the rooms. Look at Ibiza Rocks last year that was ridiculously poular, the Kaiser Cheifs gig was sold out about 4 days before, so it seems to be what the punters want? I don't think its going to go downhill into a big rock-fest, but it is nice to have a bit of variety. That's my 2ps worth anyway ;) :D

hello aby:D :D

think the consensus agrees with you in that some form of alternative music (live or otherwise), operating from one of space's many rooms for an hour or two or more, might not be such a bad thing. ;)

suppose the question is, how big is your budget darren? if its huuuuuuuge, then please get the killers (imagine them at space - weird!!)

goa trance would be better than friggin' bull**** live bands!!!
i cant stand the idea personally!!

watch commercialism @ its peak! :(
i blame that god forsaken filthy electro/punk/****eHOUSE explosion on radio stations all over the globe.....people will like it because they dont care what is playing. they are all 'googed' up & "space just rocks!!!" *insert rolling of the eye here*....

maybe i am just getting old, bitter & twisted.......

I like a bit of rock but I wouldn't want to hear it in Space. Live music might work if it an appropriate style but even then I would have some concerns as with live bands it tends to be a case of song-break-song-talk to crowd-song etc, whereas the club experience should be more about a continuous groove working its way inside your head, with the focus on the dance floor, not the stage - exactly the same reasons I would never go to see Morrillo again. Having said that, it wouldn't be the first time one of the rooms in Space wasn't to my liking and I would opt for the obvious solution and head somewhere else.

Darren Hughes: We want to introduce what we have experienced and programmed at homelands into Space. Especially now when we're not engaged in a festival in the UK it's the right time to develop what we do at Space. The terrace lends itself very well to the presentation of live music.

No way he's bringing live rock bands (or other crappy music styles which arent electronic ones) to my most beloved terrace!

IT'S ALL ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC!

Do i need to remind him what happened to someone (armand van helden) when he tried playing a different music style on the terrace, which wasn't electronic one?

This sounds interesting........any chance anyone could tell me what happend and what he played.cheers

He played hip-hop and got booed off the decks  which is a bit ironic seeing that some of the true great house DJs started off as hip-hop DJs and still have hip-hop influences in their sets.

he was also being a bit of c*ck (perhaps understandbly) but even so his own reaction to the reaction of the crowd didn't help the situation.

i felt embarrassed to be there that day.............and have had a soft spot for armand ever since.
