Anyone seen it?

We watched it last night, but I didn't get the ending. You know when the aliens shield is down, and basically they all die - why is this?
It's when Tom Cruise shouts to the army guys "The birds! Looks at the birds!" and the birds are all pecking at one of those big mechanical killing machines.

I don't get it though - why do the aliens die :? 8O

The bacteria on earth that we're all naturally immune to kills them as they have no immunity to it.

they die because they are not resistant to the earth's bacteria. the original story claims that they have eliminated all bacteria from their own planet and thus have not immune system to cope with ours.

great film eh - so entertaining ;-)
 
I really liked it, I thought the ending was a bit poop though tbh, they could have made it a lot better. They strung along some bits for aaaages, then the end took about 3 mins 8O :lol:
 
It was good up until the point they went into the basement with the half-crazy guy. Then it went completely shit.
 
for two of the biggest names in hollywood teaming up together to fund and produce a movie of that scale! if you ask me it wasnt that good!
could have been much better than it was..still good.. great special effects etc.. but it just seemed to be lacking something..
ohh yeah more characters!
it needed more characters just tom cruise and his kids then tim robbins near the end was not enough.. great concept.. bad script!

Good special effects though, made me jump a few times! :lol:
 
Becks, the ending is as it happens in the book.

i reckon we should be grateful that there hasnt been a change to give it a 'hollywood' ending.

i agree that it is a bit of a unsatisfactory way to end a story. Sadly, HG wells has been dead for yonks so we can't take it up with him ;)
 
it's not a big secret??

basically they die beacuse they have no protection to the airborne virus's that we all live amongst!!!
 
Was I the only one who found both kids really annoying? I was hoping the 'precocious' kis was going to get dusted so I wouldn't have to put with her incessant whining and screaming :twisted:
