Ushuaia...

I had a great time at the closing party. Fine with me but it seems like their bouncers need to chill out.

i never bother with star ratings - the criteria are different whichever province in spain you're in - and some places don't have any - pikes and pacha for example (off the top of my head, i think)

I agree I stayed in hotel that was listed as 2 stars in Marbella but the hotel could have been an easy 5 stars, but it had no night help. Stars are like recommendations one mans pet peeve is no bother to another.

he was never in police custody

Funny enough I was just thinking that myself.

I do wonder where he is...if he made it off the island or is still hiding there laying low. Either way theyll catch up with him in th end, whats he going to do, stay on the run forever :?

Thing is it was involuntary manslaughter, he punched him once obviously not intending to kill him...but now hes done a runner lifes gonna get sooo much worse for him when they finally do catch up. Prat.

he was never in police custody

That, dear Watson is the kernel of the problem that people have.

My understanding of the incident, was that while he was never in police custody, he was spoken to by the police on the night. He did not flee until the next morning.

According to people I have spoken to this is the reason why crowds went out and marched in protest....the custody issue.

Why was he not taken into custody on the night while he was in the vicinity and why the airport police were not alerted on the night to stop him leaving the Island via the airport.

Reports suggest that he is in Brazil at present....a difficult country to extradite from.

newspaper reports at the time say that he fled the scene immediately. the police rang him on his mobile phone and instructed him to report to the police station asap which of course he never did. i don't think it's standard police procedure to put an apb out and surround the airport every time one person thumps another (which on that night this is what the incident was - a left hook to the jaw)

As you say Newspaper Reports

Its a different story if you talk to the staff that were working on the night.

I was told that the poor mans skull was cracked open and was lying in a pool of blood. If that is not enough reason to go to the perps house and arrest him straight away then what is??

Ringing him on his phone and politely requesting him to attend his local police station does not sound like normal Ibiza police behaviour.

He was a high risk case for absconding.... most law forces would detain in those circumstances.

Something definitely smells wrong....people dont go out and march at the risk of loosing their jobs for no small reason.

that's true, and if i remember rightly you reported the waiter's murder about two weeks before he died because you believed something written on this forum.

Thats True. I did believe something written on this forum. In future I will take caution about everything that is written here.

i've said before and i'll say again anybody can say any old codswallop about anything anywhere

Yes I agree with you and I know where you are coming from.

I am just relating another side of the story for balance. Im not saying its correct and I would feel that the same goes for the newspaper story. Its all conjectural especially as I was not there on the night I am only relating a version I was told.

The real facts of this incident are unlikely to come to light as the perpetrator will never face trial.

One has to ask whose interests, apart from the perp, are best served by the real facts not being exposed:?:

A lot of focus on the actions of one bad egg. It was a horrible incident, no matter what the details, and I take it the hotel might not have responded in the best way possible.

But all I can rely on is what I witnessed myself. I said before and I'll say it again, I never encountered a single security guard once I entered the premises.

And the security guards at the entrance were perfectly cordial.

I presume there's a lot of people working hard behind the scenes at that place (booking, promoters, sounds, lights, bartenders, etc., etc.) who would like to draw a line under this incident and not have their hard work tarnished. From what I saw, they were doing a good job!

Agreed 100%.
Yann is doing a great job and such a nice bloke.

This whole tread started with Gabibiza (the inside man:)), whom never been to the venue, but makes comments about it.

I visited Ushuaia for one of the "Never Say Never" parties late September.
I went there with an open mind and tried not to be influenced by all the stuff I read on the press and forums so I could make a judgment according to my personal experience.
I had a brilliant time, door people were quite polite, I didn't witness any bad attitute from the security team and everyone was there to enjoy themselves so it's a thumbs up from me.

Another Ushuaia myth!

When I was there, there were plenty of people dancing in the wade pool, totally unhindered.

If you're talking about the deeper pool, well, I can see why they wouldn't want a bunch of drunk and wired people getting in there!

This Ushuaia stuff is boring...
I hope they find the guy that killed the staff member... but no matter whats said anywhere, that wont change anything... unless someone knows where he is of course.

Who knows what will happen with Ushuaia... but they did well the season, minus the hiccups. Spoke to some people that had a great time. I didn't go, but I would stay there... maybe next season for a long weekend. Then I will check out the party.

I had a good time at Ushuaia... the night I was there, there were some cheesy tunes thrown around, but I loved dancing outside. People were friendly, including the people that worked there.
