Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel for 2011

That's laughable.

At the peak of the season, you can stay in the 5-star Mirador de Dalt Villa for only a couple of euros more.

If I were going to blow 460 euros/night for 2 on hotel, I know which one I'd choose!

In its previous guise as a 3* establishment it was offering rooms for as low as €20 per person half board last September.

Amazing what a lick of fresh paint, a few day beds and scatter cushions can do for a Hotels image.:)

The pretentious service will more that likely be an added bonus

Wondering if they will see their mistake before they do it...

One of the most important factors when selling a new product is pricing.

The model they are copying is the Ibiza Rocks one............but more upmarket. Im sure they are looking for exclusivity and restricting certain people from being able to attend.

If they aimed it at the Hotel Garbi market + say 20%, then they would have a contender IMO.

If it doesnt work out for them they are going to have a hard job re branding it as it will have lost creditability.

Space are doing the right thing, letting Ushuaia test the market, while they sit back and watch what happens.

Well if Ushuaia hotel is going to be a more upmarket version of Ibiza Rocks, i can't see it succeeding... i mean i just don't see their target group...

are they looking for the party type ? 90% of those people will not be able to afford it! why not stay in another hotel and visit Ushuaia only when parties happen there ?

are they looking for the vip ? why should they stay in 3-star hotel in pdb and not in a 5-star in Ibiza Town ? let alone if they can stand parties and all that stuff going on in their hotel... i remember complaints from the Atzaro clients 2 years ago after the Cocoon closing after party there.

Ibiza Rocks is a success because their prices match the area the hotel is situated and their target group.

And for god's sake we're still in recession...and considering the current economic climate i don't think there will be many people wanting to spend a fortune for an overrated hotel...there will be some but not enough to fill it!

I liked Ushuiaia, not too full on, not too cool minimal chavs and bling people... don't really like the sound of this lol

I think that we will just be getting an "Es Vive style" day pass:!:

Tailgate at the entrance and then enjoy8) the Ushuaia experience before returning to a more realistically priced accomodation.

why on earth if you had tonnes of money would you stay in PDB? yeah, it has a good nightlife but its horrible compared to Ibiza Town and if im spending €500 a night, i can afford a taxi back to Ibiza Town or the north of the island!

Its a good challenge. I think that this hotel would have worked better where Ushuaia is now, as I quite like the far end of PDB beach. The location opposite Space would have (and should have) been a Space-stype ala Ibiza Rocks type hotel - In my opinion Pepe missed a trick!

Not sure I want the ugly sight of the next door Fieata Hotel and its 9 floors towering over me in a 5* hotel. Also, that area seems to have some dodgy characters hanging around it night and day - though I am sure private security will be moving them on...

However, hotels appearing like this have the ability to change the whole area. e.g. push prices up in that part of PDB and then the rest of the hotels gentrify.

Also, PDB is still a great beach! Its easy to forget why an area actually developed in the first place - and in the case of PDB it was because of the beach.

In Ibiza for NYE and took a walk along playa den boss's beach today. The old Ushuaia site is a complete bomb site and the hotel they are taking over opposite space is having major works done to it. Will be interesting to see how Sands fares given it will be at the bottom of the hotel.

I wonder if they'll have events past midnight inside like Es Vive do. Will be interesting to see how they control entry if they do.
