Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel for 2011

Sasha 'Never Say Never' Opening Party, Ushuaia - Thursday, 21 July 2011

Are you going? What should I expect? What to wear?! Any ideas of opening/closing times please?

Thanks v much x

The following information is official, offered by a manager ushuaia:
"Dennis Ferrer party is not happening because we didn't get to an agreement. Propaganda party is taking place instead. Best regards!"

Anyone go yesterday? Wasn't Radio Slave there? Will people really fork out €40 for this, and then another €40 to cross the road and go to Space?

Only the once.
I went to the defected party. Ott security. Not allowed in or near pool. Ridiculous drink tokens. Drinks 15 euro.
People staying at hotel seriously pissed off as they cannot use their pool after 4pm
Oh but you can use it if you are a dancer/stripper wannabe working for the hotel!

Glad I checked it out before booking for sept!

Prob worth going for cadenza party but defected was quiet till 9ish

Great stage etc just need to seriously sort the attitude.

Can't imagine why anyone would want to stay there!

what about passouts? if i want to go out and swim in the sea ... or to have lunch....could i come back without any payment?

Apart from the Cadenza parties, not sure I'd check out much else. The defected party did look a bit like "forced fun" from the photos, and it looked empty!

I am still for the life of me trying to work out why someone would pay €40 to stand by a pool (not allowed in it) listening to Defected Music...

ive been reading lots of things about Ushuaia, i went past it a couple of weeks ago and it looks very nice, i really dont think it will succeed charging €40 to get in, specially if its not filling up till 9pm.

Its certainly a stark contrast to what everyone was saying about it when it was a reasonable free to listen beach bar!

If they charge so much for their drinks, surely they will be making more money letting people in for very cheap or free. (if they are filling the place anyway this makes no sense but it doesn't seem they are)

yeah im not sure they've got their business model right , only time will tell

The thing is maybe the business model is right. Pack it in for 1-2 times a week, and then for the rest of the nights have a more exclusive vibe, less people, pay to get in, eat, drink etc. There are plenty of people that will buy into this... I am sure from mid July to end August it will be pretty packed out most times. However, I am just not getting what I get for €40 on a non Luciano night lol

I tend to agree with the above.

From what I've read, operationally it is currently still finding it's feet, but in terms of business model I've think they've pretty much nailed it.

Of course, opinion is split on what they're trying to achieve. I know a lot of people seem to be anti this "exclusive" VIP-esque parade that Ushuaia, Blue Marlin and Pacha to a certain degree are following.

I kind of sit on the fence. If you have the £££, then it's your choice what you spend it on. If you don't have the money, or don't wish to spend your hard earned £s on it, then don't. Simple.

Sure, there is ALWAYS going to be a degree of pomposity, arrogance and/or attitude with this crowd. It's part & parcel. But to say that people with money can't "get" or appreciate "real" music is frankly ridiculous.

Sadly, money talks. And this is true in every walk of life. It'd be naive to believe Ibiza was immune to its allure, in spite of it's spiritual and cultural ethos.
