Surely the same must apply if you were Margaret Hassan. My point is that there is no real difference between the 2. Both died very tragic deaths and paid aid worker = paid engineer. Not an awful lot of difference to me. One certainly isnt a money grabbing arse hole if the other one isnt as I think they were both trying to help the Iraqi peeps.

A good mate of mine recently returned from service in Iraq (in the Royal Engineers). He lost friends in action out there. His opinion of the Ken Bigley murder - tough sh*t. Bigley was out there earning maybe 250K, and he knew the risks. From the BBC news website:

The nature of his job in Iraq remains clouded in mystery. While some reports said the trio were working on a US army contract others insist it was a civilian project.

If the former is true then he certainly wasn't working for the good of the Iraqi people, but only to line his own pockets.

Still, it was a hideous way to go, and truly horrible for his family.

Margaret Hassan then is a slightly different story - utterly tragic. :(

Poor poor lady  I was only thinking yesterday that there hadn't been as much on the news about her and wondered what was going on, then woke up this morning to see what those bastards had done

Me too. Is so sad and depressing. :(

If I could get paid the same amount of money in UK / Iraq i would choose UK. He chose Iraq... how does that make him greedy?

You would get paid a LOT more in Iraq --- hence the greed and fact that he and his family ignored the known risk.

Will England be having a minutes silence at the match tonight?

Woah, woah, sweet baby jesus and the orphans!

This wasn't supposed to go like this. I think we shouldn't talk about the dead in such likes. They both were there for a reason, albeit slightly different ones. And didn't have to meet a end like that.

Calm down. :P
