We have ceramic in both bathrooms and neither are cold at all.

Just put a bath mat down to remove the chill factor.

Carpets get dirty & smelly. When we rented an apartment downstairs the plumbing was faulty and the carpet on the bathroom floor got flooded. The smell was unbearable even when it dried out.

i generally feel my diaphram start to force upwards when im standing behind the smelly people in q's or something.
